Some Help Geting Online

hi i need some help geting my pc online. ive recently got broardband and they sent me a usb modem so i read somewhere that i need to share the connection with my PC using an ethernet card. is that the socket on the back of my PC that i used to connect my phone line too ( for dial up?)

also that socket is slightly smaller than the one on my xbox. do i just buy some sort of adapter to bridge them together? and can i use my system link cable?

any help much apreaciated

you need to go and get a network card.
they are around £10, and are a PCI card, with the SAME socket as the xbox. Get a CROSSOVER network cable and connect the new card to xbox
once you have installed that, go to the control panel in windows, then network connections.
click on your Broadband connection. Right-click>properties.
Go to advanced > Internet connection sharing and enable "allow other users to connect through this computer's internet connection.

that should be it.

you could have googled this however, that is where you find out stuff......

ok thanks. i went into dixonx and they guy said the same thing. is the system link cable a straight through or a cross over?
