The solution was to get a new eeprom. i bought one from the zodiiak guy and it gave the same error but I got an eeprom from a friend who never used Live and it worked fine. Some people have success with zodiiak.....

Ok, thanks.  I bought a new eeprom from a different person, but I think the problem is how I locked my HDD.  I used configmagic to lock it, and I don't think that that is always reliable.

Do you know how to manually lock your HDD using computer software?

No I didn't edit it. I only added it direct to my Xbox.

i at one point had that problem. and according to the in depth issue that m$ support told me, i was a uniqe case, in that my xbox would do everything it needed to get on live. and pass. accept atculy go on live.

so i changed my eprom and im at a different stand point, where i cant connect due to technical issues.

I had the same C2 problem, i replaced my old banned 1.1 eeprom with an unbanned 1.1 eeprom but couldnt connect because of a configuration issue... i tried everthing that has been mentioned on this forum (pal/ntsc switch, hard power cycle, etc.) but nothing worked and i was about to give up  ph34r.gif
anyway, a friend had a 1.6 unbanned eeprom that never had been on Live so tried that, i replaced the 1.1 Eeprom by using config magic and desperatly tried to connect. i freaked out when i saw i was connected!!
So now i am playing on xbox live, using a trial card, for over 2 days and no problems have occured yet.
So what i think the problem is, is that the eeprom version has an important role in this problem and maybe has to be replaced by a newer version, preferably 1.6, else try to mess arround with the region settings using config magic (but make sure you got a backup)
Hope you guys find a solution, just thought i'd tell you all what i have expirienced so it might help everybody here.  smile.gif

greets from the Netherlands!!

I'm finally back on Live.  It wasn't my new eeproms problem, because I just locked my HDD using my Slayer's Auto-installer disc and it worked.

From the sounds of it Allstar hit it on the head. I've seen many problems when people use configuremagic to lock and unlock, but everyone takes it to be reliable and flawless. I had the same suspicion a while ago, and this just adds proof. THe question that comes up now is why would it only work sporatically. Im gonna guess the codeing of config magic doesnt change each time you boot it.

Thats wierd for a long time it has been believed that only 1.6's can use a 1.6 eeprom with out modifying it. The typical rule was 1.0: 1.0,1.1-1.5(with modification), 1.1-1.5: (Any of these versions will work interchangably), and the lonely 1.6: that works with only 1.6. Not sure if youre really lucky or if you have stumbled on a breakthrough.
