Anybody On Live After The Update?
« on: October 25, 2005, 10:10:00 AM »

Maybe I am beeing too careful but I am a bit worried about logging into live now after the update. Anybody know if this update will do something to the current banning system? E.g. scanning for large drives without beeing flagged first etc.

I have a two way tsop flash with a 250 GB hardrive. Never been banned and been on live for the past year. I would like to continue on live...

Anybody experienced somthing strange? (I guess it's ok and I am just beeing paranoid)

I am right there with you, being careful...better someone else get banned than me.  Has anyone gotten on, and can conferm that nothing has been added to scan for larger HD's?  I'll try tonight if no one posts by then.

Banned! I have never played a game on Live. I sigend up for a 2 month trial one week ago. Brand new Xbox. Upgraded the HDD and added a Modchip before ever even plugging into the net. Have been able to log into XBL until now. I tried this morning, and I got the "....modified hardware or software" message. Oh well. Thank God I could give a rats ass about XBL.

OK, this scares me!
Who else has been banned after the update, and what mod were you using?

the updates are nly supposed to update Live to support 360

but if they did add soemthign to ban all large HDs, whats the difference? you get banned for you large HD, or you swap to a stock HD and get banned under marriage theory, either way youll need a new eeprom and new HD, so whats everyone scared to log on for? im gonan log on as soon as i get home from work, i need more people to get on and telll me if anything has changed

That doesn't make sense.  You said you've never played a game on live before but also said you used to be able to log onto live.  If you log in, then you can still get banned, whether or not you play a game.  Once your hdd gets matched up with your eeprom and you swicth either of them, poof.

Let me clarify. I don't play games. The only reason I got an Xbox was for my 5 year old son. (Turns out I shoulda got one long ago, LOL) Anyway, I enjoy the hacking aspect of it being a long time satellite hacker. The only reason I logged onto Live was to test the banning theories. I have not changed anything since my intitial sign up. I was able to log onto XBL on Sunday. Now I cannot. Maybe was something I did. Maybe not. Does XBL connect when playing a non live backup?

Then it may have been Wallace and Grommit, or The Nightmare Before Xmas.

Dunno?

I've been able to connect to it, but it keeps logging me out, and then sometimes it wont connect. So it appears its still having issues.

No clue as to if they are blabket banning large HDs since I flip to my stock anymore to get on, but just getting onto Live is a 50/50 chance in general at this point. It keeps erroring out that it can't connect with the Live service half the time and even when you can get logged in you get logged out very eaisily. I'm rather saddened to say that I fully expected something like this to happen...
