Safe To Play Xbconnect Mod On Without Getting Ban?
« on: May 04, 2005, 09:41:00 AM »

I have 2 hardiscs in my xbox. I allways use original hdd. when playing at live.
I also try to remember not to turn mod on anytime with orig. hdd inside.
(So any game can not write to that hdd it has detected mod).

The question is, can i play games at xbconnect / kailink with my other hdd connected and mod enabled, as it would be much easyer & quicker to play them so (from ava menu etc.), without risking my epprom getting banned ?

It would be also nice to use avalaunch network options (radio, movie trailers etc.), but i haven't had the guts to do so after i once get a ban from live. (Don't know why, i quess i changed my eeprom from NTSC -> PAL and forgot that).

I always unplug network cable from internet when even moving movies to hdd to be sure it doesn't send any data to MS, but i'm 99.9999% sure it is not needed.

I can also block all Live ports from my firewall, as i usually connect my xbox direct to HomePNA -box when playing live.

Can anyone tell if it's safe to play at XBconnect, use network radio etc. if i do all these checks before connecting to kai / xbconnect ? <

xlink and xbc use system link to connect, it never tries to reach the xbox live servers, therefore you couldn't be banned on xbox live by using tunneling services. <

All I was afraid of was if some game tries to send some info to ms when it notifies mod, even when not connecting to live at all. I quess it could be possible and could use any ports ?
(Not reported yet anyway, but still think it could be possible)

(My Xbox is connected to switch that is connected to firewall. My PC is connected to that same switch).

I quess ms could make a game that would always check if there is mod on and send some info to ms. even when you're not connecting to live at all ? <
