I was banned from xbox live.
I called MS about it.
They said they were determining my xbox had been banned from using an action replay game save. and that if these types of game saves are used they alter the EEPROM of the xbox.
resulting in a ban.
to fix the ban: "just buy a new XBOX"

this is what they had me do to determine why I was banned:

Go to your live dash and start the network trouble shooter...
when it fails to connect press B and then Y...
...now read me the last set of numbers after Z:

appearently "Z" has some sort of info or this guy was hosing me in hopes of making me confused as an average consumer. just for the record here is what I see when following his instructions:

the suck ass thing about this ban is this:

1. I have a stock XBOX HD

2. I moved my entire softmod dash that boots up XBMC off of C and onto E in it's own folder, when I bought my new game Street fighter Anniversarry Collection and replaced my stock C for the dash update

3. does this mean they are scanning my E?

I thought I had done everything to protect myself, however I was banned right quick like.

I never could get a shadow C to work so it'd be hella tight to get that going on...guess I  need to get that poppin.

I am running config magic as we speak, pushing for a new EEPROM.

any insight into this would be greatly appreciated, and I hope this little excursion at my own expense is appreciatted. there is also another menu after this menu of numbers as well, anyone who wants to delve in here, bring it to my attention.

So I am seeing that I may need a new HD as well?
can we get an AMEN BROTHER!
Yeh....so I guess I need to know if an EEPROM will get me back on? or do I need a EEPROM and HD COMBO??

And just so you kids know.....Unreal Championship 2 and SF anniversarry collection require dash updates.

What I am tripping off of is my Halo 2 update took place before my mod so cold booting from the game was never a prob.

Oh well we live and learn.

Dude, did you really had any gamesaves on your box? I Have at least 13 gamesaves from action replay or xbmp, xbmc, mxm, etc, etc.. and never had a problem nor been banned. What that dude told you is highly unlikely, unless they have access to your gamesaves on E... but still that would be hard drive scanning.. something that hasn't been proved yet.

I really don't think they'll bann you for having AR gamesaves...

I would give them shit about it... Tell them you don't have AR, etc, etc,... to see if they give you a more satisfying answer.

As for eeprom and HD, you'll need both.

A new 100% virgin eeprom, and a new hard drive also 100 live virgin. Also a new gamertag will be required since yours is going to be flagged.

Sorry, I'm being a bit confusing... but I never heard that they'll bann you for having AR gamesaves in your xbox. Plus, the most common save to modify bios is 007, and other exploits...

Maybe you loged in with your modchip on, no?

well if you read my post, you can see that I moved all modded dash files OFF of my C and updated my real dash by copying my original C back.

I have been playing onlive for months on end without a problem (see my other posts)
but when I got a new live game it needed to update my dash.
so playing it safe, I moved all non M$ stuff off of of my C.
The live updater ran for my game, I got on live for a few hours.....ate some dinner.
got back on live played some more..... played again later.....logging back in and out each time.

it wasn't until day 3 when I trie to sign into XBL that my xbox has been flagged with the modified xbox error.

I can't beleive with 53 views of this no one has had anything else to say.

I am getting a second XBOX from a freind for free, my gamertag is not an issue.

I can recover that no problem.

It would seem the examination of my hard drive led to my ban. it was said that my eeprom caused the flag.

I am using the UXE with the mod 67 and mod 71 fonts package method that replaces your whole C (which works extremely well by the way) thanks devz3ro

I have the installed 71 fonts set bert-generic.xtf and ernie.xtf set

I'd really like more info on those numbers I posted.

You don't need a new gamertag if you're using a stock HD. A flagged gamertag results in Live querying the HD to see if it is larger than 8GB - ie. non-stock. Flagged gamertags are not an issue if you are using a new stock HD. I've been using my flagged gamertag with a stock HD since I flashed in a new EEPROM on Nov 12th without a ban since.

My stock HD was used on live until July 2004, when I swapped in a larger HD. I got banned in November, so I went back to the old HD with a new EEPROM and I've not been banned so far.

I used Slayer's with option 3b2 to return HD to factory - this revirginised the old HD and installed just the M$ files.

For what it matters, in your specific case, all there is to know about the numbers you posted, is that when your second set of numbers in the letter "Y" starts with a number six, means you're banned.

It is nice some people in here actually HELP you when reading your post.

I am just going to get a second XBOX at this point. it doesnt cost me anything, but I feel stupid having 2 of something when I only need one.

Isn't there enough people out here to boycott XBOX and show them we mean business?
That we as a community should be calling the shots and not the other way around?

Imagine if you will that we werent allowed to go on the internet if MS scanned our Home computers hardrive or detected a non-MS processor chip?

Would we all take that up the ass too?

When is someone going to finally stand up to these big corporate pieces of shit and tell them to go fuck themselves?
