Xbox Live...uhh Missing/crashing...help

So I installed a softmod for a friend on his Xbox which was manufactured in Nov2004. He later decided to make a Live account. So he uninstalled the soft mod.  I'm not sure what he did, but everytime you go into XboxLive to make a new account, the XboxLive program doesn't come up.  Insted you see the little green cursor on the bottom of the screen rotating until it freezes. We had used Ltools1.7.5 to install/uninstall, although he messed up somewhere along the lines.  Is there a way to correct this? Unfortunatly I don't have a back up of the C drive, since I deleted it from my pc once everything was fine.  Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, I'm fairly new here.

heres how to fix it....
you will need some supplies:
gasoline
lighter
friends
popcorn

Instructions:
light the sucker and watch it burn!

(sorry had to get that out!)
Ok im not sure what you did wrong...but try finding a guide to reinstalling the xbox dash...that should fix the problems
