I agree, MS banned me after reformatting my HDD after being on XBL for 2 days. How do I know whether Slayer's 2.6 used the disk.bin file?  And what is this thing with HD serial codes that are getting banned? Doesn't a new EEPROM replace the HD serial as well?

It appears that they are banning the serial of whatever HD was installed at the time of banning. Some modding sites sell unused Xbox HD's obtained when they sell pre-modded Xbox's with upgraded HD's.

After I got banned, I used option 3b1, then I did the RETAIL XBOX HD TO FACTORY option. After that I flashed the new EEPROM. So this means that the HDD serial has not changed at all, only the HDD key right? So does MS ban the HDD serial? That would explain why I got banned again.....

MS dosen't ban HDserial numbers.

The information that is used to ban someone from live service is the HD Key.
The HD Key is stored in the eeprom.
Thus new eeprom = new HD Key.

In your situation I would ask did you figure out what got you banned to begin with and did you fix that issue.

Well.. that is another mistery banned xbox.

Using a new eeprom and a new hard drive should make M$ think that xbox is "brand new".

I don't know...  this is confusing, but it has been proven that it works like a charm. And that is one of the reasons I don't trust that slayers disk so much. I have played with it, true... but do not trust it 100 %

Now to the facts:
If you changed your eeprom, with a new HD you should be able to go back on Live without ANY problems.

Are you completley positive that you're switching your modchip OFF? Do you have a colored X logo so you can tell the difference between On and Off ?

Maybe someone already ask this to you, I apologize if I'm been repetitive.. just trying to figure this one out. How do you turn your chip Off? I am not familiar with the xenium Ice chip.

Edit:
Ps: I stated before I used the Slayer v2.6 disk and went back on live just fine. I correct my statement, I just remembered that over that "factory restore" with slayers v2.6 I FTP over it MY OWN backup of C and E for the same reason I said before... I do not completley trust on it 100 %.

Holly shit! I completley missed that!

New eeprom + New HD + New GT = XBOX Live
New eeprom + stock HD + Old GT = XBOX Live

New eeprom + New HD + Flagged GT = Re-banned

Good attention to detail buffman.

i have never use slayers to format my drive or any drive, i alwaysuse a generic evox boot cd then format with FTP commands, that could be a useful way to go about setting up new HDs

If you were on live, then reformatted your drive and signed back on with same Xbox ID then is serves to reason when MS checked your XBL version and saw that it had been "reverted" back to an older version then you got the modded flag.. voila.

Could it be any other way?
