New Hdd With Xbl Steps - Help Me Please!
« on: December 06, 2004, 07:15:00 PM »

Ok so here is how I stand...

1. I have a v1.0 Xbox NTSC
2. I have the X3 installed into my xbox
3. I flashed my xbox bios with the X3 bios
4. I installed EvoX Build 3935 onto my xbox
5. I have been gaming now on XBL for some time

6... Now I wish to install my new WD IDE 7200 RMP 160GB HDD into my xbox however I still wish to be able to game on xbox live aswell...
7... Will this work for me...(so that I will be able to game on XBL and not be banned)

a) Get a new (virgin to XBL) EEPROM from my friend... (FTP into his XBOX with FlashFXP then go to C:\\Backup, and take his file called "EEPROM.bin" and FTP that file to his harddrive on his PC)
Burn the "EEPROM.bin" file onto a CD then take it to my house then take the EEPROM.bin file off the cd and place it on my HDD.
c) With ConfigMagic Final on my HDD go to data then place the EEPROM.bin into data and overwrite the existing file there.
d) Now I make an ISO of that file then burn it to a DVD-R using Nero Buring Rom 6 (Do I have to add a dummy file with it)

e) Now I put the DVD-R I made with the EEPROM on it, and stick it in my Xbox DVD Drvie...
f) ConfigMagic will now load (I press A the bypass the warning screen)
g) After it loads it will show my current EEPROM on my xbox.
h) I select "LOAD EEPROM" in main menu
I) Select "Unlock HDD"
J) Load the EEPROM.BIN file in the DATA directory by chossing "LOAD EEPROM FROM .BIN FILE"
k) Select "UPDATE XBOX EEPROM" in main menu
l) Now, select "UPDATE XBOX EEPROM" in main menu (my EEPROM should now be different)
m) Select "LOCK HARDDRIVE"
n) Exit ConfigMagic
o) Take out disc

p) Now I install the new HDD I bought
o) Lock it (can you list the program I should use which would be easiest)
q) Now create new gamer tag, and game on XBL worry free

Can you please tell me if this would work, and if I have missed any steps or is this plan is exact... Also please try to answer question in brackets

Thanks for anyhelp you can give me...
~Thanking you in advance Mike~

i think as long as you use a virgin eeprom and put it with the new hdd and make sure its the same as the info when you signed up for live you won't get banned. I dunno though man your taking a risk.

Where would be the problem with using the same gamertag? Wouldn't XBL see it as a new xbox? He would have a different eeprom and hd. The reason I ask is a friend of mine bought a modchip and 120 gig hd, then XBL did the marriage thing. He already had an account so we didnt instant the modchip or hd. I was going to give him my eeprom (never been on live) so he could install the new stuff and keep his gamertag. I think his XBL account is only 3 months old. Then I was going to use his eeprom. I doubt I ever go on live with my xbox but I would like the option. I was wondering if this was plossible.

Before you change any thing, file or program or what ever, always back it up! This way if you screw something up you can put it back to original. Always keep a untappered backup of your C and E partitions of your xbox.

Ok thanks, but what I mean is...
I have a Modchip installed, bios flashed, EvoX installed, I have been gaming on XBL for some time now, and I have gotten a New EEPROM.

Now I want to install a new HDD on my Xbox (I know I should always have a copy of C and E on my Computer HDD)

My question is after I install the new HDD do I put the files that were on C and E on the stock HDD back on the new HDD???

Yes, you need the original files on the new hd. I am not sure if XBL scans the hd, so I suggest getting a bios that allows you to boot from the F partition. This allows you to leave C and E stock and put all your modded stuff in F. As far as using a new eeprom and hd with the same gamertag, I dont know. I asked this question above. It seems like it would work because it would be a new eeprom and hd. I am going to start a topic asking this question. If you do try it, keep us informed.
