What:
Today (11/17) Bungie Studios and Xbox Live are releasing a free mandatory
auto update for Halo 2
This download is free of charge as part of your Xbox Live membership.*

When:
The downloads will be available Thursday, November 17, 2004 after 3:00pm
ET/12:00pm PT.
You may have the download available before this time, but everyone will have
access to it by the time posted above.
If you don't see the download right away don't panic. Don't post that you
don't have it yet. It will show up shortly.

Where:
This auto update will be available to Xbox Live members in all countries
that Xbox Live is sold.

Details on the downloads:
This auto update will address the slow matchmaking issues that some members
are experiencing. In addition, this auto update provides a fix to the issue
where certain Television displays were clipping off the sides of the HUD.
Finally, this auto update should decrease the "Dirty Disc/Failed to load
map" errors that some members are experiencing.

It has made my looking for game time alot shorter.  It also unlocks a new level which looks pretty cool.

hopefully this is a genuine fix, and not another ban attempt.  I would think the people from m$ working on live! are more worried about customers and their rediculous wait times than banning us for the meantime (hopefully)

I just got it -- I think.  First time I got on XBL since Sunday, but the update appeared to be for Halo, and matchmaking did speed up a *lot*.  Much nicer.

I'm running an xecuter 2.3b lite (120 WD HD, installed HD before joining XBL). I'm still not banned.

Based on my experience, I think this patch is safe.  Maybe I've just gotten lucky twice, though.

just got the update, my HD tv looks great now, and the new load times are MUCH better yay for bungie!

Just downloaded the patch... again, hopefully it's not another banning attempt.  So far no ban though

Looks like the update for the HUD fix is only XBL and not going to be on OXM

I speed up load times and unlocked foundation for me, no ban.

you mean foundation? yeah... you get that level if you beat the game, which is the main reason i was going through the SP mode. I'm less likely to finish the SP mode anytime soon now thanks to the updizzle.

could be...but my I seem to have green pings all the time in-game...it's just getting TO the game that takes forever. so it's a mystery....
