happy.gif'  I mean, you could have boughten another epprom from the buy sell trade forum and got your xbox back on live, but if it's worth playing halo 2 online, I think a new box is worth it...  I think i will just sick with my stock and see if I get banned or not, i'll post back up as soon as i get banned, if i ever do.

Edit:
Yep, just popped in top spin, no ban yet.  I have a feeling they are scanning hdds...  if you have a large hdd and got ban, mind giving a shout out here to confirm my theory?

seems like quite alot of people are getting banned tonight.  There must be something to this.

Now if I buy an unbanned eeprom and put the stock hard drive back in and have it disabled is there any chance that I can get banned?

I was banned today as well. I thought it was because I tried to get on with street fighter  aniversary collection(i imported it).  I got it because others I know have gotten it and been able to play on live since its a W-code disc game.  But now the banning due to larger HD is making alot of sense. I have a 160gb seagate.

K, as far as I know and read, this is how the epprom thingy works.

XBL (xbox live) bans your hdd code, not your box.  And the motherboard and hdd have the same code.  So you buy the new epprom, and flash the hdd and motherboard with it, and then XBL thinks your xbox is whatever xbox your epprom came from.  As long as the person with the orig epprom doesn't get XBL too, you're safe with that epprom online with a stock hdd and the modchip off (or in stealth mode if you have a XBIT like me)

Well... I haven't been banned yet, but I have 15 preorders of Halo 2 limited edition reserved in my name to sell on Ebay later on.... I guess i'll try one out and let you know if I get banned right as I load the disc.

hey sly, you have a larger than stock Hdd?
Just checking if my theory that a larger Hdd gets you banned is right or not

Veryn, read back a little in this topic, everyone that got banned so far has had a bigger HDD and their modchips are disabled.  If the modchip is disabled, i don't think the bois in the chip has anything to do with the banning.  By disabling the chip, it is hidden from XBL, but you can't hide the fact that you have a bigger hdd in your xbox.  I guess M$ considers "bigger hdd = modded box"
