QUOTE (deacon187 @ Nov 8 2004, 10:06 PM)
im gonna hop online and just leave it signed in to ms dash for a while, and post back after midnight if im able to log on with halo2, i have never been banned before, i had 2 xboxes and was replacing a chameleon with a X2.6 and messed up the board a lil and hadnt had the time to play with it, so i just threw the chameleon into a box i used for live only for over 6 months, also swapped HDD way after gamertag was transfered and have always had my live account on the xbox

ok im signed into ms live dash, ill leave it for an hour or 2 and then see what happens when i get back with halo

dunno whats going on i just loaded halo 2 signed into live had to update dash from halo 2 and im all good, somehow i just dont understand, maybe im just lucky, i dunno

maybe ill just stick with this chameleon 1.3 and to hell with the X3

errrr....like i said TWICE already.  if your eeprom DOES NOT match that of your HD, meaning if you dont flash it when you replace your stock and place a new HD in, the look at that, if you flash it and the new hd but then only to replace to your stock, your banned....FLASH YOUR EEPROMS WHEN CHANGING HD'S

Actually, no, it doesn't.  You played live with your 250 gig, and after you took it out, you were banned.  They detected that you had it, and once you put your stock back in, i guess they finally went after you since today is Halo 2 aka mod dooms day.

Also Veryn, you seem to be getting it wrong.  You get an error when booting up an xbox with a motherboard with a mismatched hdd and motherboard eeprom.  there is no way you can play on xbox live even if you mess up with the eeprom flashing, since your xbox won't even boot then.  If you have an unbanned eeprom, and you are using a stock hdd with the chip off, you should be fine.  Thats the reason that hdds and motherboards are sold in pair, because you need a matching set in order to get your box to boot in the first place.

No, once an eeprom is banned, it is banned for good.  Best bet is to buy a new eeprom off Zodiiak on the Buy and Sell forums for $8, and then flashing those to your HDD and mobo.  You'll be fine after that if you use a stock hdd and diable the chip when you play.
eeprom selling thread by Zodiiak

He has instructions on how to flash them correctly and such,

okie then, that confuses me.  You used a stock on live, used a 250gb to play games, then switched back to the stock and went back on live and was banned?

alittle more of a clarification:

1)played with stock on live
2)swapped in 250 in played off live
3)put in stock, went on live
4)discovered you were banned?

well here is a thought M$ and bungie ar on PST which maens all the east coast people got there H2 at NOV 8,  9 p.m. PST and the game is not suppost to be released until NoV 9 so maybe there xbox live computers still think its Nov 8th and guess what they think they game was released early so you get banned for getting an early copy

Just a thought

wink.gif .  I mean, it's true that people got it early, like on Nov 5th, when some store new michigan and such released it early, but even then, people tried XBLive, and they couldn't connect to the server.  I guess it's since the server hasn't been put up yet.  But now, people are playing on the server as we speak, with stock and stockly modded boxes.  I don't think the release rate difference has anything to do with the bannings.

AvramE

but whats the sound of one hand clapping?  who knows, i might be as far away from the right answers as I can be.

Wrong on so many levels.

It's pretty well known that some stores in the midwest - and elsewhere - sold Halo 2 early, they wouldn't ban people for that. It's the retailers fault, not the customer's fault. Second, even if they were doing something that dumb, they wouldn't fuck it up so bad that they would ban every single person that got Halo 2 tonight.

Well, jrm... i don't know what to say.  I'm freaked out by what you said, because that is what I'm doing that the moment. I got a 160 load with tons of emulators and such, and I swap back and forth between the drives.  My biggest guess is that you accidentally had the chip on when you booted the stock drive.  Even without a game in, if you don't have a replacement dash (evox or such) installed, the stock drive will goto the XBLive main screen.  EVEN IF YOU DON'T WANT IT TO, this screen connects to the XBL server.  I know.  I don't log in, and it say: "Did you remember to ask for the day off tomorrow?  Nov. 9th = Halo 2 RELEASE!!!"  I mean, if you had a chip on, and saw that screen, I'm sure they would have detected your modded bios...
