I haven't been banned, logged on Live! the first time the day Halo 2 was released, got 160 GB Seagate harddrive, SmartXX chip, Linux on E and other things on the drive, my Xbox goes on Live! perfectly every time.

I too have a modded box.  I did it so that I could load the games that I own onto my 120 gig HD so that I didn't have to wait for the retarded load times (like on Fable).  Also, I've turned it into a media box, so that I can play AVI files, etc.  Nothing horrible here.
Well, I'd read that if you mod your box before you get your live account (so that all the parts have the same SN as they did from the beginning of the account), you shouldn't be banned as long as you keep the install stealth (everything is in F:), lock the HD, and keep the chip off when you get on live.
Well, I played Halo 2 for a couple hours last night on Live.  Today, I tried to load it up & I'm banned.  Guess I'm gonna have to shell out another $150 on an xbox that will probably have the same crap Thompson DVD that my other 2 that have broken will have.

Because your game tag is flagged BANNED!
MS will look for a non org HD in your xbox if you connect with it.

So if you use a new org hd no new gamer tag is needed.

Try hit the search button next time....

I got a new xbox never on live, upgraded hdd, went on with new gamertag no problems for a week or so, then recovered my old gamertag that had been used on a previously banned hdd and I was xbox banned within 48 hours.

So use a stock drive me thinks.

Well I dont have time to go into the details of what I am running as far as bios and whatnot, but I can tell you that I was playing halo 2 all day yesterday. Went to the beach all day today came home and tryed to play XBL Halo 2 and cannot join at all. I checked to see if I still had a connection with my computer and all is well. I guess it was my time to be banned this time. Off hand I do know i have a SmartXX with a 120gb HD. um i think the bios is 49XX something or 48XX. Was told it was the most stable so wichever one that is. Oh well this really blows. Ill be back tomorrow with the other info. Thanks in advance for all the reseach and work you guys are sure to put in to this subject.
