check it out.

One more thing... I tried to log in xbox Live yesterday to check who was online and they have you registering your box serial number, name, and bunch of crap... you think that has something to do also?

well just to add.  i have a modded xbox with an X2 chip in it.  I play on both live and on Xlink Kai.  I also have SW:BF, which i have played on both Kai and XBL, however i just mainly played on XBL.  Now when i played on Kai, my mod chip is off, as well on XBL(of course).  I hate cheaters in games and im not one of those - so if MS is just removing hacks fine...but otherwise its crap.

Now i also have ESPN NFL 2k5, and NHL2k5, both of which i have played on XBL, no problems - MOD OFF.  I also have one of the other so called problem games Madden 2005, which i have played with mod on.

Anytime i run a backup i have the MOD on (obvious) but whenever i run a retail i have the MOD off( not matter what im playing XBL or XLink)

I've havent been banned at all - and shouldnt be because i havent violated any rules.

I think its a bit more involved than games causing problems.   Also i tried the password trick as of late, and then powered up the SW:BF game and it never tried to sign me in before the game started.  I always have to do that myself.

On a side note, i have noticed 1 time when i updated a game on XBL, it changed my autosign in to enabled.  have no idea why that happend.  but i caught the change and switched it back.  So anytime you get an XBL update ALWAYS check to make sure your sign in is still disabled.

Man, f*** it.  I am getting a new Xbox to play on Live with, and keep it stock.  I'll just mod the hell out of my old one and use it to play backups and DVDs, it's already been banned three times anyway.  I'm planning on getting a Halo Xbox.  Might as well have a special edition if I'm going to have two Xboxes.  This Live ordeal is pissing me off.  I'll see all of you on Live come Halo2 time in November.  Hopefully, this thing will blow over by then.

He is talking about the WEB. If you log into xbox.com you can fill in that information, but it´s optional.

I think the reason for resent banning could be spelled "GAMEHACKING"! You can find a number of the banned ppl in this thread:
PGR2 hacking and this: Hacking Ghost Recon Maps

I was banned too. The strange thing is I haven't been on LIVE in a month. I haven't even turn on my Xbox in a month. I strated play the "french leaked pal version of a spicel game" and today when I tryed to sigin to LIVE I was banned.

I have a x2_4981.06 bios, Maxtor 60Harddrive, and runing Avalaunch/EvoX. Using X-B.I.T modchip.

I my gamertag is not banned but my Xbox is banned. Because I can still sign on LIVE with my friends unmodded Xbox.

knodi - when you played the french game, was your ethernet cable plugged in or not?  Your situation may help shed some light.

quote:
Xbox Live security
The Xbox Live team has noticed and received reports from the Xbox Live community about users connecting to the Xbox Live service using modified Xbox consoles. In most cases, these users have used the modifications to gain an unfair advantage over other players, such as racing modified, faster cars in Project Gotham Racing 2. By doing this, users are breaking the Terms of Use that must be agreed to when a gamertag is created. The Xbox Live team will not tolerate this unfair activity and have taken steps to protect our community from this cheating.

Xbox Live has recently initiated additional security measures to ensure that those connecting to Xbox Live with modified hardware will be removed from the system. Modified consoles will be banned, and information about those banned machines will be tracked to prevent them from connecting to the service again.

It’s important to the Xbox Live team that we work to provide an environment that is free of cheating and gives all players an opportunity to compete fairly online, and that's why I wanted to ensure that the community knows this. Xbox Live constantly monitors for users attempting to bypass security measures and gain unfair advantages over other players, and will take additional action as needed.

This is even worse?  It seams that someone has managed to get om XboxLive WITH a modchip ON!  Only then you can change/mod games to do such things and stil run them...

How did they even do that? I believe strongly that it's possible to get on xboxLive with a modified xboxlivedash (i am working on it too), but it seams to be possible already now. How did they do that in the beginning? If they can manage this, then i'm sure they can also find a solution for fooling xbox live banning procedures.

///////////////////////
Also it seams that new Live games automaticly sets AUTOLOGON LIVESERVICE on ON, at starting the game. Even if the xbox is physically not connected to the internet.  Needs to be more investigated too...

You forgot to mention you were quoting major nelson's blog...

And whoever the parties involved in going on XBL with mods are, they aren't gonna come out and say so.  So we just sit and wait for some one to make the discovery on what MS is looking for now.

dont know if it was cause was on the ms dashboard setting up slayers when the chip was on or cause starwars tryed to go on live even tho in options i set it to not try to. really narked off.

guess might need a 2nd xbox one for my 120gb and testing games and one for live

My first idea is that you should be looking around and not just 'threading' up here.

Wait with the next unbanning a bit more.

There are many ways to softmod your Xbox.  I am personally using UDE.  Depending on your kernel version, you could use UDE/UDE2 also.  However, if you access Live with UDE installed, you will get banned.  If you want to completely uninstall a softmod, such as removing everything softmod-related from your harddrive, you can use the 007EvoX save to FTP into your Xbox and delete the necessary things, or restore a pre-softmod backup (which I highly recommend).  To learn more about the different softmods available, visit this thread:

ya thats what im gonna do.  Its not too bad a deal really.  W/that new bundle we get 2 games Top Spin ($20) and NCAA 2k5 ($40), both of which are live compatible, and a new controller ($30).   So in essence ur paying 60 bux for a brand new headache free xbox live experience.  Seems like a decent price to me, considering all the games I havn't had to buy due to mr modchip wink.gif

and you get the dumbass award for admiting to pirating games. You deserve to be banned from live, and i hope you get baned from here as well. i swear i dont understand how some people even manage to breathe.

just some info..

I got a 2 month trial account..
xbox with various mods (used to be a mod test machine) and 20 gig IBM HD.. got banned. chip was disabled.

flashed new eeprom, got on, 2h later banned again. mod was 100% off (smartxx in the machine at the time, btw).

flashed another, replaced HD with a returned-to-stock state HD, however copied all savegames and C partition 1:1 off the IBM HD, removed all non-stock files (dashboards, app saves, eeprom backups etc), removed mod from system.. 3 days and still not banned.

I'm guessing:

either:
- MS checks for certain files/filenames on the HD
- checks for non-stock HDs
- detects LPC chips even while disabled (which is possible if the mod doesn't completely detach itself from the lpc port when disabled)

they do not

- "mark" gamer tags
- store information about being previously banned on HD (would've copied that over in my case otherwise)

truly safe ways of playing live should be:

- unplug mod (use pinheader install to be able to do that)
- swap HD for stock

annoying of course, but at least safe it seems.
