Strange Connection Problem
« on: October 08, 2004, 02:34:00 PM »

I've been banned before so I know what it looks like.  This is not it.

I was using XBL with my Excuter2 modded xbox for a while now running version 4983.  One day I try to connect and it gives me a network error.  Going to the troubleshooting screen, it passes the first 3 checks but fails the last one.  The message that pops up says

"NEtwork Error: COuld not connect to Xbox live"

Paraphrasing, it tells me to try the following
1. if connection through a router change the mtu settings.  Tried directly connecting through the cable modem. Same problem.
2. If using internet connection sharing... i'm not so let's skip
3. Call your ISP.

I have since called MS, Called my cable company and had my router switched up.  Still same problem

OK, so why am I all of a sudden getting this problem.  I had only recently flashed my bios to 4983, so could it be some kind of xbl check taking effect?

Hja;p/

Issue resolved:
Reflashing with a new EEPROM did the trick for me.  Not sure why this problem arose in the first place.

I have the same problem. How do you reflash the EEPROM? Could you give me a link to a forum thread maybe? TIA

I had the same problem all of a sudden I couldnt connect to live anymore. called ms and isp. I was sure i didnt change anything in my router settings. opened the xbox ports on my virtual server settings and it worked again. ms call agent didnt think its necesairy to informe me about the server changes they made but found out trough a m8 who works for ms.

if that doesnt work you will find informations on replacing eeprom here

4983 does block you from signing in to xbl with chip on. dont know what other effect it has. you could try your old bios to find out if the bios has something to do with the connection problem
