Fool Proof Xbox Live...?
« on: October 08, 2004, 08:46:00 AM »

howdy,

i am about to receive my new xbox fitted with xecuter 3,i have had a ps2 modded for years but this is the first xbox i have owned.

having read alot of posts on the subject of xbox live and modded xboxes i have seen a few ppl report being banned even with the chip switched off..??

can anyone tell me a fool proof way of going on live with an x3 chip,i will be going on live by linking to my laptop which is on a wireless netgear internet connection.

IS TURNING OFF THE X3 ENOUGH?? :uhh: ...WHAT OTHER THINGS CAN I DO TO AVOID MY CHIP BEING DETECTED?? :uhh:

thanks for any advice...cheers... :D

Yeah we're pretty sure that those that have said they've been banned from live with their mod off, are just cases of user error.

i've just seen so many saying turn off the switch and others saying you still can be banned.some are saying MS can detect if you have any bios that are associated with chipping...i don't know,it would n't suprise me if MS did this though.

at the end off the day if i do get banned i'll probably just buy another xbox just for live, they are pretty cheap now and i'm pretty flush with cash... :D

i'll just turn the chip off and see what happens....roll on halo 2...!!

thanks again for your advice... :P

The only way theyd be able to see your bios if your chip is off, would be if you have a flashed TSOP.  They dont ban for Larger Hard Drives or what files are on the drive.  Not yet anyway.

also transfer you live gamer tag to a memory card and erase it off your xbox so it can not auto-log you into a game, and turn off auto log-on and put a pass so eveytime it goes online you need to enter a pass.

You could also take this a step further and  load all the NON M$ stuff like dashboards, apps and games to F:\ or G:\ ( depending on the size of the drive you are using) and edit the .INI, .XML, .CFG etc... files so they refrence F:\ or G:\ as needed instead of  C:\ as the do by default.  By loading everything to F:\ or G:\ you leave the C:\ with nothing but the original M$ dash, this ensures that if M$ ever does start scanning C: there are no NON M$ files. You would also need to edit whatever ( hacked ) bios you are going to have on the chip to look to F:\ or G:\ for the alternate dashboards.
On top of this you could also use one of the newer X2 bios or iND-BIOS that has LIVE BLOCKING to ensure that  no LIVE games can connect while the chip is on and booted from that bios.
I also reccommend that you change the X and eject button colors in the bios via the tools that are available for this. That way when you boot with the chip on you will see something other than the default green X and green ring around the eject button. Just a visual queue that the chip is ON so you do not accidentally launch a LIVE connection.

Course if MS ever starts scanning, I doubt they'll just scan C, so I doubt it really matters where the files are.

Granted that M$ created the box and they probably have backdoors in the system. As far as I am aware the original bios can not see F: or G: as a partition of the hard drive. It sees them as mem card slots on the first controller port.  Plus the original bios was set to only recognize an 8 gig disk for the internal drive.  So as that stands. By default they would not be able to see what was on F: or G: if you booted from an original bios.  The other benefit is that C: stays clean so there is no problem when a LIVE update happens. Cuz who knows. I'd be willing to bet it would be easy for M$ to do a LIVE update that simply did a DEL  C:\*.* with exceptions for certain files to ensure that there was something to boot from incase of error.

That's just my 2 cents worth.  All I know is I'm already prepared incase the time comes.  :D

look, its as simple as this...
I KNOW FOR A FACT, BANNED PPL WERE BANNED B YUSING THE CHIP ON LIVE.
A common misconception is that if you try to use your chip online, you are unable to connect and immediately banned. This is why so many people will defend to the death that they were banned while booting to the retail bios.
FACT:
Live aware games are growing, set a password, and if it's not too much trouble, unplug your ethernet cable. YOUR XBOX WILL SIGN ONT XBL WITHOUT YOU KNOWING. YOU WILL BE BANNED. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
FACT:
You are getting banned for cheatring in M$'s eyes, not for having abigger hdd, or added functionality. It's to protect us from ending u plike the PC gaming world. Believe you me, M$ has seen the online gaming community go sour, and they wont let it happen.
FACT:
YOU ARE BANNED FOR ONE REASON AND ONE REASON ONLY. YOU LEFT YOUR CHIP ON AND WENT ONLINE.
