Xbox Live With Wireless Adapter?
« on: August 03, 2004, 07:47:00 PM »

hey guys,

unfortunutely i have to have my xbox away from my pc and router so im gonna need to do it wireless. the only thing is tho, is that i had it going straight into my router with an ethernet wire, and my isp is giving me 3 mbit downstream and 368 kbit upstream. im just wondering how this wireless adapter will affect my speeds. because i have a pc with a wireless adapter and its pulling about half of the speed my isp is giving me, while my ethernet pc is pulling the full amount.

if there is anyone out there that has the MS wireless adapter made for the xbox by MS and can give me their opinion that would be great!

and also, i was just curious to know if id be able to ftp into my xbox through avalaunch if im connected wirelessly.

thanks guys!

What speed are your other wireless cards?

The xbox adapter is 54mbps so it should not have any problem with 3MB, however it does depend how far away from your wireless router your xbox is going to be...and how many walls its going through etc..

If your other pc is using 11mbps and its quite far from the router then that would explain why your only getting half the speed.

You should be able to ftp into your xbox without a problem.

i believe theyre 11 mbps. but, they might not be configured properly, but im not sure. the computer is right next to my router because i had to renovate my setup. i just wanna make sure that it takes ZERO configuration and i will be able to use evox. cuz im gonna need to keep hookin it up to other xbox's that i fix and i wont have time to configure it.

thanks
