Xbox Live Does Not Work And I Am Not Banned

smile.gif)

with my new 80GB Drive I attempt to connect to Live from the same Dashboard as my C: on the same Retail Kernel - I recieve a message that it cannot connect to Live due to a Network Error.  It recommends that I check my Router, check MTU values, etc.

I am very much quite sure that my copy of C: and E: (that's all I copied - that's all I needed, right?) that I moved to the 80GB is exactly the same as the one on my 8GB, which will at least connect enough to tell me I'm banned.

OK! I sorted my problem out  biggrin.gif

It seems my problem was router setting related. Something my ISP implemented recently which I was unaware of caused the issue so I just changed a router setting and now I'm good to go, for now anyways wink.gif

The gamesave thing was just pure coincidence...Isn't it always the way..LOL rolleyes.gif

Anyways! I hope you all sort your connection issues out as well...Good luck! smile.gif

How bout you tell us what you changed, and what ISP you use?

Ok!.... When I changed the 'WAN MAC address setting' from 'Spoof this PC's MAC Address' to 'Factory default' and rebooted the router. Then I set the Xbox's IP to Default (DMZ) as before and then it worked. smile.gif

It appears that my ISP scrapped their requirements for registering MAC addresses recently and I think that it may have somehow caused an issue with my particular router. I doubt that this will help anyone else hense the reason I didn't post the particulars. Good Luck! smile.gif

use enigmahs video switcher to switch to PAL and then back to NTSC (or vice versa if you are british)

Thanks a lot haloader. That worked. We had the same problem here "Xbox Live not found" communication error. MS couldn't help us either. We called twice but simply changing NTSC to Pal and back worked and now we can go on Live. Thanks again, you rock!

Great! I tried switching from NTSC to Pal, and now my screen won't stop jumping ....UPDATE - Nevermind, I was able to switch it back, but it didn't resolve the issue of getting online

Hey guys, I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM.  I used to have Live when it first came out and now I bought ESPN NFL 2k5 and tried using the 2 month free trial, but I get "xbox live not found."  I called MS about 5 times yesterday.  I tried connecting with and without my router and both times I received the same error.  I'm so frustrated because it used to work fine but now, unfortunately, it isn't.  My ISP is Optimum Online which isn't compatible, but Opt. Online says they know for sure it works.  I just hope we can find a solution to this and I'm sorta glad to know it isn't just me.

Please tell us what ISP and router you are using. Thanks.

I just spoke to customer support at Optimum Online...they say that the only MAC address they use is the modem's. The MAC address on your XBox or PC(s) are irrelevant to them.

In addition, I also confirmed that their modems allow both straight-through and crossover cables. That was another issue I found on Xbox's online support, but apparently that is not the cause of the problem in my case either.

I'm at a loss.

t0m0, I'm using Optimum Online also, and they told me the same thing. They said all I have to do is reboot the modem and the xbox and it should work fine. They were wrong. This really sucks. I've been thinking about going out and buying a new XBox to see if it'll work, but if it doesn't I'll be REALLY pissed.

I've tried so many different things: loaded a new EEPROM, set the MAC to match the MAC of my PC, switching from NTSC to PAL then back, unplugging each unit for like 10 minutes before rebooting, but nothing seems to work.

It's obviously connected as it finds the IP and the DNS resolves. But for whatever reason it can't connect to XBox Live. Ugh.  sad.gif

I tried all that also, still not working for me. We need to find a solution to this, i'm thinking of buying a new Xbox just for Live as well.
