you cant do it (easily) without the xbox hdd key, and if your xbox is dead, and you dont have a backup of the eeprom, you cant do it.

We are looking at the wrong problem...

How dead is your xbox?
They can typicaly be repaired. If it was a mod gone wrong, I do motherboard repairs for realy reasonable rates...

I want my old Xbox HDD for an Extra HDD, meaning i would format it and not bother keeping any data saved on it...I have a heap on it, but meh i don't care, just means i have to play the games again  tongue.gif

I don't know whats wrong with it. It just stoped working, no power light, nothing. Yes the power was turned on, and yes the powerplug was pluged in, no it wasn't the powerplugs fault.  I don't want or need it fixed, i got a new one.

So there is no way what so ever that i can install the Xbox HDD in my computer and Format it? i just want to format it, nothing more, no back up, i don't want the saved files or anything.

well it sounds like you have no backups
the only way is to remove the eeprom from the dead xbox
and read it, save it to a bin file then load it into liveinfo and get the HDD key

Can't you just plugin the XB HDD, boot to dos, reformat the sucker and then use it like normal.  windows won't see the lock, it's just see it as an error. i could be wrong but it's worth a try if the xbox is already toast.

ok, so If i get my Xbox Motherboard working, How do i get the Lock Key?

and about my Xbox mother board, here's the story about it;
We had a black out, xbox was pluged in, but not turned on. After that it didn't work.
All other things pluged in to the same power Board still work, including TV, VCR, PS2, GC, and DC.

There seem to be no visable marks on the mother board apon self inspection after a guy looked at it.

Any idea?
