Need Help With Connection To Internet
« on: December 18, 2004, 09:23:00 AM »

I am looking for some help with my xbox connection to the internet to play games online.  I have read the tutorials and will try to give as much information as needed.  I am using 2 NIC's to connect.  The first one goes to my DSL modem and the second one goes to the xbox through a crossover cable.  I can FTP and ping to the xbox with no problems, but can not connect to the internet through anything (XBMC, browser..).  My pc internet works fine.  My xbox has a Xecuter 2.3 lite chip in it.

Here are the settings for Evox:

[Network]
SetupNetwork = Yes

Subnetmask = 255.255.255.0

Here are the setting for my xbox nic:

you have to use some sort of internet connection sharing such as the ICS built into windows xp .. the local network card can't "see" the internet card because its not on the same network, its on the internet..  you need to enable ICS and than set everythings default gateway.

having said that you should be able to use kai with the setup like it is now .. the xbox doesn't have to be on the internet for it to work in kai so you can play online ..

For a minute there I didn't think anyone was going to reply.  Thank you.  I have enabled ICS on my Broadband connection and on my DSL nic card (at different times )and still had no luck.  Which one should I enable it on? What should the default gateways be set at?
 I tried to use kia to connect.  It detects my xbox and says it is configured correctly, but when I try to search for other games online nothing ever comes up.  Tried both halo's, tony hawk's, ect... nothing.
Thanks for the help.

when you went into kai to search for games you did navigate to the correct room on your PC and made sure people were in there right ?

if you really want to get kai running head over to the offical forums and fill out a help request form so we can get a better idea of whats going on .. www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum

Hey,
  Thanks for all the suggestions.  Luckily I have everything working now.  I had ICS enabled before but still no luck.  I could play through kai, ping, and ftp but still could not get XBMC or internet browser to work.  The answer was to match the dns servers from my DSL to my dashboard.  After that it all worked.  I am using static ip still.  Thanks for all the help.  Hopefully this post will help other people who are having the same problem.
