Xbconnect Or Xlink?
« Reply #15 on: January 03, 2005, 06:48:00 AM »

This question has been asked so many times..  Each user will tell you different.  The best thing to do is try each one out.  One you will like, the other you will prfer more.  Basically its all up to the user.  Each product has its advantages and disadvantes in each area.  Either way, Bio}{azard (coder of XBConnect) and TheDaddy (Coder of Xlink) deserve many props in all they have done for the tunneling world.

While it is with no doubt, the main games you will find on XBConnect is halo2.  We have always been strong in Halo series.  While thats good if you like playing halo, if you prefer other games, Xlink seems to be more on that.  I still love the occassional Rainbow or ghost recon, its just tougher on XBC to gather a crowd.

Lag, well no matter what anyone says, its all based on Location, people in the room, and the host.  Both applications use the same packet drivers to deliver the packets.

Try them both, either way you cant go wrong in helping out the Xbox tunnels.

generalnewbie - read the FAQ over at http://www.teamxlink.co.uk for more help but yes run kai on the PC to connect and select an arena. If you have a linksys router you can do more but I'd wait to see if you like it first.

XBC is a good piece of software but the combo of KAI on my linksys router and using XBMC to find games and voice chat in XBMC while getting a game together owns.

XBConnect is also free, We offer a Pro version with additional features included in it.  The free version of XBC in no way resticts you from playing differently then the Pro version.

Well rasstar,  I have to agree with Maddness.  You really do have to try out each program and then you will develope a preference for either one.  I use mostly xLink because thats where my team is based but I also dabble in XBC since some games like Counter-Strike are played mroe often on there.  You also have to look at features of leages and ladders.  xLink has WePlayHere.net and Rainbowsixleague.org.  I'm nto sure what XBC has besides nexgeneration.com (which is a tourney site).  All of which are great.  As of now I'm offering Tourney service to Both xLink and XBC and also I'm letting every ladder site I know of about my offer.  I'm giving admin access to XBC admins (if they ask) and xLink admins (if they ask).  I contacted web2zone and they sounded interested in using my tourney service for there Lans.  so check it out. Http://TeamDp.co.nr Click on "Tourney Service".  I have custom skins for Halo2, Rainbow6 and Web2Zone.  Let me kwo waht you think.
