Xbconnect Or Xlink?
« on: November 15, 2004, 12:48:00 PM »

Hi was looking at these 2 tunnel softwares and was wondering which one is the best?

I want it :

1.  The one with the least lag

2.  The one with more users on to play with

3.  One that has more people playing other games apart from HALO (even tho i will play halo aswell)

4. Best connections

5. Can play more than 4 people in a game (like Star wars battlefront)

Interface i dont think i need to worry about that all i want is which one is the best for the ones above or anything else people can think of.

Thanks CIRC

i prefer kai, but thats just my opinion.

How about you try them both and decide for yourself - they are free.

i used to use a live a lot, but cant anymore :(

but now i mostly use XbConnect, for Halo2  can't say i have had any problems, of course you will get lag if the guy ur connecting to is hosting 14 players and only had a half meg dsl pipe. lol

just look out for peps with large pipes and add them to ur buddies list :), i found that a lot of german  & norwegian  players have fat pipes, pity they dont speak much english ?

I use XBC mostly... but as stated above, try them both.  Most people are playiing halo, but if you host another game you might be pleasantly surprised.

Lag is mostly dependant on your connections and those connected to you.  Make sure your PC is free of spyware and bots.

I use both, but Kai Xlink with the new XBMC is heaven if u r like me and your xbox is in another room to your pc. I find that more people seem to play on xlink, but u might aswell use both.

Me too, I love the new xbmc kai combo!!!

I have to say I use kai 100%, now there are 1200 people on playing, that is a hell of a lot of people, and every week the number is increasing, surely you want to be there when 2000 are hit!

There have been a few programs available to play xbox system link games over the internet. Xbconnect being by far the most popular, but a new project is in beta called xmelee.
xmelee promises to reduce the upstream and downstream bandwidth requirements that make current xbconnect games laggy at times. The server access and software is free.
At the moment, not much people know about the system, and it's nice and quiet. It's probably best to get a couple of buddies together and host some Halo2 games over the internet.
You can download the client at www.xmelee.com

-Cheating:
XBC = more people that cheat with trainers, I've encountered 6
Xlink Kai = actually does something about the cheating, xbc does none. i've encountered 1.

-Games played
XBC = mostly Halo 2
Xlink = Halo 2, Ghost Recon 2, PGR2, and a few more better if you're more into a game variety than just Halo 2.

-Average users
XBC=stats really don't say, about 120 hosts at a time, average.
Xlink=1000 average users, about 160 hosting games

-Hosting limits
XBC=I can host 6 people in halo 2 with pings less than 70ms fine with some lag
Xlink=I can host 6 people in halo 2 with 70ms or less with no lag.

I prefer Xlink the community is more active and more helping and they play games among the community and have a website based on ladders and tournaments etc weplayhere.net checck it out man, xbc has nothing on kai in my opinion even know I use both the apps.

Xlink got mention on Screen Savers the other day I was happy to hear that.
