Xbox Online Question

Can i connect my xbox online without having a router. I have a d-link 4 port router but cant get it to work. I also have sbc dsl. So i was wondering if i could configure my xbox's network settings for connecting to the internet using my dsl. I basically dont want to play games right now but i want to be able to connect to ftp and such stuff thanks for any help...

yes http://www.xbchelp.com/network/  if u would have done a little reading u might have not had to waysted space on the xbs servers
