Colossus & Zanzibar Glitches/problems
« on: December 16, 2004, 12:11:00 AM »

I posted this topic at HIH, but they suggested I post here.

I've got some permanent glitches with Colossus & Zanzibar. These glitches are really starting to get on my nerves. I've tried nearly every possible method of fixing it (short of getting a replacement Halo 2 disc), but to no avail. The problems started after I first got the Scarab Gun, and when I used Sputnik. I was playing someone on Colossus, and some canisters got jammed along the conveyor belt line. Then the blue canisters started exploding on impact. Since then, it has not gone away.

Basically I'm having two problems with the game. They're minor, but irritating. The first problem is a glitch in Colossus, where the blue gas canisters keep exploding after spawning (when they hit the conveyor belt). So all that goes through the level is wreckage, and empty canisters.

The second problem is in Zanzibar. The dropping platform keeps making the grinding noise whenever I walk on it. I've tried this countless times, so it's evident there's something wrong.

Anyway, here's a video to show what I mean (forgive the low quality recording):

Now I'm sure these two glitches are related, because the physics in the whole game feel slightly different. I'm also sure the glitch is a gravity glitch (perhaps to do with Sputnik, I dunno). So what have I tried to fix it? Sputnik is no longer active (this glitch started weeks ago), I've deleted all my Halo 2 game data & started from scratch again, I've tried "clearing" the Xbox's memory by playing several other games before going back to it, I've tried an assortment of pointless ideas to somehow "fix" it, and I've cleaned the Halo 2 disc & repaired the minor scratches. Yet the problem still remains. The only thing left to try is to put another Halo 2 disc in my Xbox to see if it's a hardware problem. When I get Xbox Live I'll also test it out to see what happens, or try it when I can use system link (since other people won't have the problem).

Yeah I know the problems aren't that significant, and don't detriment gameplay, but they are damn annoying. Does anybody else have these problems at all?  <
