Hi, I was given an Xbox 360 with a broken DVD drive. I was going to see about replacing the drive but wondering if I need to or if I could just softmod my Falcon Xbox 360 and somehow use my PC's drive to get the games off any discs I buy and copy it them to the hard drive or do I need to buy a new DVD drive to get them on the hard drive?

Youll have to buy a Xecuter USBPRO, or something similar to dump the key from the existing drive, then flash the CFW with the new drive with the key matching your old drive. If the drive pcb is completely dead, youll have to Reset Glitch the console to get the dvd key from the nand.

In short, just RGH the console, forget about the drive, and play everything off the hard drive. Unless you care about Xbox Live

Ok completely new to his Xbox 360 stuff. What is RGH the console and can you link me to doing it please?

Ok for vb_encryption_vb who asked in the other thread here is my Xbox 360 info:

2008-07-23: MFR Date
12V---14,2A 5V---1A (v3 Falcon I believe)
Dashboard: 2.0.14719.0

The drive sticks but the main problem is it was given to me because it wouldn't read any discs so what can I have done. Can I mod it and just put the games on the hard drive and not worry then about the DVD ROM?

Either rgh the console or fix the drive. Rgh will run around 100. New drive will run around 60.

Falcons are a bitch to rgh from what I heard.

Every falcon I have done RGH1 is fine and no problems, RGH2.0 on 14719 is another story though

I sell drives for 60. Send me a pm if interested. I assume you have a Benq? You would have to send the drive so I can extract the key and flash it to the new drive.
