How Does Halo2 Know Which Controller, S/duke
« on: December 03, 2004, 10:06:00 PM »

When starting a multi or co-op game in the charecter select menu it shows the controllers in each port, and shows which controller you are using. If you plug in an s it shows that, and same for the duke. Ive never seen a game do this before and I think its bad ass. but how the hell does it know. arent the controllers electronically the same? This makes me feel that other games should be doing this too. Like when they show the buttons they usually show them with an s controller regardless of what your using.  <

Maybe a "code" in the controllers tell it which controller is what. Maybe the serial numbers? Maybe the product IDs? Its hard to tell.

I wish I had a Duke controller. I LOVE THOSE. I'm stuck with an S though (came with the XBOX)  <

I like the feel of the duke but the S has better joys for aiming since they have a big crater to fit your thumb in.  <

Someone around here sells the sticks.  Couldn't you switch out the duke sticks with the s-type sticks?  I've been thinking about this.  I prefer the s-type, but after a couple hours my hands just cramp too much.  <

yeah you can interchanged them, theyre 'plug-n-play'...

someone actually wrote a tut once, calling it the 'ultimate comfort mod'... though they were switching the sticks the other way around (duke to s)...  <

Sweet.  I'll have to do this to a couple of my dukes.  I have six of them.  <
