Halo 2 Legendary Help!
« on: November 17, 2004, 07:19:00 AM »

Well, I'm trying to play Halo 2 on legendary (I only like to play games on the hardest settings) and I can't get through that second ship that's sending Covenants in the Cairo Station  - Repel the Covenant Borders - (Yeah, I'm just beginning the game...) Those elite's don't die, and as they come in more than one, I can't try to kill one each separately because they are always together. Does anyone beat it in legendary? What should I do? What strategy is needed?   <

You can always put it on co op.  Die with one guy and then take the next one in.  <

blast the elites with a charged plasma pistol then switch to your assault rifle with the scope and pull a head shot, its the best way ive found so far.  <

yeah, energy weapons for the shields and solid weapons for the flesh is the only way to get through this game... this should be in halo gamers chat.  <

actually cop-op on legendary is different than the other levels-when one player dies it's back to the last checkpoint.*DOH*  <

Thanks for all replies, but, do you do this: energy armour with plasma and a headshot with the battle rifle at which distance?
I mean, one of the only safer spots I can stay and the elites don't come after me is behind those crates, right in front of the door to the hangar. When I charge those damned elites with the plasma weapon, they run away and hide. If I try to go after one of them the others are there, just waiting to destroy me. Where do you hide when doing this one by one elite killing?

Sorry if I wrote anything wrong, but English is not my 1st language.  <

i'm at the same spot now as well.  I've been taking out the grunts first(no shields) then throwing plasma gernades down to where the group of elites, there are plenty of nades in the hanger behind you. after they're sheilds are down a couple of burts will kill them.  Then as the second groups is arriving, i run through the the door in the middle of the hanger, pick up the 3 nades by the dead marine, go up the steps and take the rest of the guys out with nades then the pistol or battle rifle.  <

To all. I am on the first hangar and could use advice. do i jump to the floor or do i stay on the balcony?  <

Shit, I screwed it all up. I decided to play the whole level (well, I´m not that ahead) again and tried to "bring" more battle rifles and plasma rifles to the checkpoint before the first hangar. The damned game saved it and my battle rifles disappeared!!! The plasma rifles are still there though, just before the stairs to the first hangar. Now I just can´t pass through this first hangar anymore!!! I was on the second hangar!!! Is it better to stay on the ground or on the balcony? I´m trying to wield (is this the way it´s written) two plasma rifles but the elite kills me first. I´ll try to do this grenade first then couple of shots but I don´t think it´ll work. These elites run away and hide behind those large crates! Shit!

Any more help?   <

Go back into the previous hanger and you'll find like 11 plasma nades . . . thats 11 dead  elites if you make your tosses.  Pick off the grunts with headshots from the battle rifle, and then use plasma pistol/pistol to kill any remaining elites 1 at a time.

I'm glad they made this game hard, because Halo 1 on legendary was almost stupidly easy for being the hardest setting.

Yeah, one charged plasma pistol shot and then a well-placed battle rifle burst takes out elites easy just make sure you take out all the grunts first. In the first hangar you can either stay behind the crates closest to the door or I like to get on top of the pelican and get to the back of it (you can back up and crouch for cover) however I wouldn't get on the floor in the first hangar because the covenant has a nasty habit of flanking you in there and also when you are on the floor you are cut off from ammo and 'nades. In the second hangar you can just stay behind the crate that is right at the entrance. I just used the hop up and shoot maneuver to get through there. It took me FOREVER to get through those two hangars until I found out about the whole plasma pistol/battle rifle combo but once you use that its easy. BTW, has anyone else noticed that if you are playing legendary on co-op that there seem to be less checkpoints (e.g. in the first hangar if you are playing single player there is a checkpoint after you kill the last set of boarders from the ship however in co-op the checkpoint doesn't happen till after you kill all the guys that come through the door).  <

Well, thanks a lot, TracerX. I´ll try your way now. I´ve been trying this 2 hangars for 4 days now (4 nights actually, as I work the rest of the time). Some people said that there´s plenty of grenades. My problem is that I used ALL of them when I passed through the first hangar, and there were none left at that hangar anymore. Anyway, now that I scred it all up, and I´m back to the first hangar, I´ll try to save as many grenades I can.

If I don´t succeed I´l came back here to bother you all some more. Sorry.

Thanks a lot

PS. Some people complain about some games being too short, just a few hours to finish... The way I´m playing I´ll take more than 100 hours to finish it. If I finish it.  <
