Hddhackr No Ata Forund
« on: February 09, 2011, 05:04:00 PM »

Hey guy's last night I tried to flash my SATA 20GB HDD to use as a HDD for my 360, but when I run hddhackr it says no ATA found, do I need some other device to do this? My computer is SATA. And it does read when I plug it in to my computer.

Try out Port 0, on the motherboard, and try without any other SATA HDD connected. Some mobos can be finnicky when trying trying to run the program.

OK.

Look on the motherboard for the SATA plugs. Next to each plug its should be labeled in small but clear printing, SATA0, SATA1, SATA2, and SATA3, if for example you have 4 ports on the motherboard.

Use SATA0.

Alright, so what motherboard brand/type do you have? How are you booting into DOS?

Hmmm. OK. Can you get into the BIOS of the motherboard?

Hit F2 when you see the posting screen. Look at the hdd settings and let me know. And see if the RAID settings are turned on.

To be honest with ya, I would recommend you try this out on another PC, other than a Gateway.

I looked up how to disable the RAID on your pc, you will uninstall NVidia mediashield, from Windows, and then disabling RAID within BIOS, by hitting F9 on startup. Info on the subject can be found here.

But by the sounds of your PC tech skills, it would best and safe if you did this on another machine, and not risk your own just to setup an HDD.

I was planning to run a format soon so I'll probably try that soon, also another question I had is does the type of HDD matter? It's a seagate or the normal one from the old HDD.

hddhackr works only with the following drives:

Confirmed HddHacker supports
  - WD Scorpio       Series BEVS/BEAS
  - WD Scorpio Blue  Series BEVS/BEVT
  - WD Scorpio Black Series BEKT/BJKT
  - WD VelociRaptor  Series

And that info is from xbins. Seagate and others will not work because the app is written in Western Digital HDD programming language.

So is that possibly why it's reading as no ATA found?
