E76 Error On Falcon Motherboard
« on: June 16, 2013, 07:14:00 PM »

The smaller one is the BCM.  The larger one is the ICS

To change the system from BCM to ICS  ... a handful of resistor positions have to be changed.  The little resistors ... the ones that are 0402 in package size.

I tried the conversion once.  I wasn't successful.  But not saying you can't be successful.

To remove the BCM  ... you need a Hot Air Tool from a 2 in 1 soldering station.  Bottom side of the BCM chip has a mounting surface nearly the size of the chip.

I was able to clear the E76 on the board with the BCM.  The chip was left off and some support resistor left off too.  It allowed the system to boot .... just no internet function

I should be able to get the chip off. Can you explain what else you had to change to leave it removed with no internet functionality? Also when that chip is removed, will a wireless network adapter work?

I didn't document my work.  So I got no exacts for you.  I should have taken pics, but hindsight is 20/20

If you closely compare the region between the BCM style and the ICS you will see differences.  Placement of different resistors.

And those resistors have different values.  You can take reliable on board readings before removing.  Good meter and a steady hand.

Taking photos of each style and blowing them up on your PC will help.  Like magnification.

Removing the Ethernet controller chip; I think, would disable all internet connection routes.  But I could be wrong.  I didn't check the wireless feature in my instance.
