the answer is no! i removed the x clamps and replaced the clamp bolts. cleaned and placed a thin layer of artic 5. no change.
thinking it has to do with the power some where. the power brick for it turns red as soon as its turned on. the other brick i know is good turns green then orange. the console just 3 light rrod's on both.

Sounds like you have a 3rrod with a 0001 secondary. Double check the secondary error code sometime

Actually, really easy to fix if you have good soldering skills. A mosfet or two have failed. Mosfet is just a style of transistor

Failed mosfets on your 5 volt rail are holding up the fans from running.
I have repaired at least a dozen of these 0001's

I can try to help you. You probably have a very good console there - you just need to change out some FETs

ill b happy for the help. i can solder fairly well. i do rol controller and internal led's on all my boxes. nothing shows on screen so im looking up the rrod flashing codes to find out more on the problem. could u give me an idea where the mosfet's are.

Double check your secondary error code before preceding. It needs to be a 0001 .... to effect this repair.

Secondary error is gotten by hold the Synch button in and pressing the Eject button 4 times. This very site has guides on it. Or google it.

And so you know ... a cheap, 25 watt iron won't cut it. The tools have to be better to remove and replace FETs.

The mosfets that generally cause the 0001 are just south of the Gpu chip.

I'll give you more info ... just be certain of your error code.

im almost positive its 0 0 0 1 code. i think i found the mosfets that are causing the problem. can i test them while there on the board? i think its a jasper mobo if there is a difference between them.

If your console is a MW2 or 3 issue ... it's probably not a Jasper. Jasper's were sold late 2008 and 2009.

Back to the Mosfets. The one's generally causing the 0001 are:Q6F1 ... Q6F2 .... Q3F1 and Q2F3

It's sort of difficult to get a dependable test while the FETs are still on board. Best way to test mosfets is off board.

Q6F1 has the highest frequency of failing. But it can be any combination of the 4. Just 1, a pair ...etc

You need appropriate equipment to remove them. As I said in a previous post; a cheap ass soldering iron won't do the task. You also need a good quality flux. Recommend a gel

ok found the mosfet's u pointed out. pickin up the tools in a week. what power rating iron would be best for this?
also searching for a good replacement mosfet set. the sticker says 2009-09-10 and the power port has the two slots at the top. idk what mobo it is yet still looking on that.

any one know what replacement mosfet's to use. i searched for AK29CE FDD 8782, but no matches. i tried

testing them on the board. the two under the dvd drive show up as 10 and 11 on my multimeter while the two

lower the large heat sink show up at 197 and 199. is this normal or are the two under the dvd drive bad?

FDD 8782 is the part number

An N channel mosfet by Fairchild. .... might be 25 volt 35 amp, if memory serves me

Digikey dot com .... has them

got the mosfets today from digikey. thanks for the tip wilgo45. a few more day and the soldering iron shows up. can't wait. hopefully another revived xbox.

What soldering iron setup did you buy? Tell me exactly please.

well a little research showed me that the soldering irons i had were not going to do the job.
i noticed your post and with some browsing i found some 2 in 1 stations.
anyone know a good place to get one that will do the job but not break the bank?
found a few for around 100$ online.
