Noob Broken Case To New Case Transfer?

Yes - Do NOT swap the dvd drives.  Dvd drives use DriveKeys that keep them assigned to their console.

JungleFlasher program helps with DriveKeys ... but you are not ready for that step.

On the 360 that won't eject the drive tray.  A crooked case or broken tray belt - might be what's keeping it from opening.  Don't discard this console.  Good chance it could be fixed too.

Yes, it appears the drive will never eject again... it does not have a force-eject hole or mechanism, and the one time I managed to pry the darn thing open, I got Shrek 2, the disc, from it.

I have a Toshiba-Samsung drive from an older(?) xbox, and now have the non-broken front panel on the xbox.

I spent last night navigating the dashboard, playing music, and trying out Media Centre via the PC. Also have a media centre remote, which works OOTB.

I now need to replace the DVD drive, with the older one, and can do with as much help as you are prepared to give me.

Many thanks.

The 360 that won't eject the disc tray, I could probably correct and fix that one.

I've got spare hardware for dvd drives on hand.

You'd have to ship it to me

@wilgo45, that sounds like it might do the trick. Is the drive easily removable from it's 4-leg mounting?

You can contact me at craig{dot}cooper{at}gmail{dot}com

I have yet to play Shrek2, but I will have two test games for when it returns. I have poked under and over this tray with a straightened paper clip, that I could well have made the problem worse.

Look forward to hearing from you. I am in Australia, so the shipping may be expensive :(

PS. I am having trouble with the forum display, I need to view it on LO-FI to read the replies. The full view is showing BLANK, so I am replying blind.

I have posted to your other post, i didn't see you did double posting... anyway...

No need to pry anything, follow a tutorial to breakdown your console and you will see that the dvd drive is easily removable. Do you have any Computer hardware knowledge at all? If yes, it won't be much trouble for you. You will just need the proper screw drivers (T8 and T10)

It appears that to spoof this drive, I will need a CK3 probe/Ck3USBPro to get the Drive Key. Once I have done that, I am solid (it is a 74850C).

Still it is about $100AUS before postage. I will make a new thread under the correct DVD flash.mod forum to continue this discussion.

You can build your own probe.  Its quite easy.

I did.  Works great.

There are tutorials out there

By the way, your Lite-on is quite fixable... it will be either the rubber band that opens/close the tray, and/or your Laser lens. Why would you do all this trouble with spoofing?
First check the rubber band, this is the most common problem when a tray refuse to eject.
