OK so I will start from the beginning, a few days ago  modded my xbox to play back up discs, afte i was done it was fine everything worked perfect. I played it all day then i finished burning tom raider and tried it and the screen went black so i shut off the xbox and turned back on it worked fine. update i tested ssome of the points that should have 5volts at standby arnt reading anything. anyone got any ideas. please help

If you have No Standby power - then you probably have a short in your power brick.

Please double check that you are measuring at the proper points for 5 volt.  Could be an issue with your negative probe not being on a Ground.  Sometimes dried flux from the factory build prevents the probes from making good contact.  Just swab off the flux

Also - if you know where your 3.3 and 1.8 power regs are - do a quick voltage test there too.

What LED colors are you seeing on your brick ?

So  ... if it is true that you have no 5v standby - Then either repair or replace your power brick.
If you replace - make sure to get the proper wattage for your console style
