Hdd Formatted As Apple
« on: February 19, 2013, 04:22:00 AM »

I have an external HDD that I have my life backed up on that is formatted Apple, and the only way to read it with windows PC is by using macdrive, back in the day, this was the only way I knew of to use an external HDD to stream my movies/music to 360.

Since then, alot has happened, and I know if it wasn't formatted the way it is, I could use it to download demos and stuff, and I am pretty sure I could format it half and half.

What I am asking, has probably been answered before, but I couldn't find the answer ( I did look)

It is formatted with macdrive (HFS I think) and the 360 reads it fine to stream pics/videos/music. there is about 500 gigs free on it, can I format the unused space with the 360 without losing what's on it. I plan on getting another HDD and backing everything up again, but for now, I don't wanna lose what is on it?  Can it be formatted into a 360 hdd/memory unit, with the 360...without losing what is on it now?

Thx in advance for any help?
If I posted in wrong spot, I am sorry, please move me to correct spot.   smile.gif

The only thing you might be able to do is resize the current partition and then create a new partition from that empty space. However, I'm not sure that the 360 will format just a partition as it might need to format the entire drive. If the latter is the case, then you won't be able to keep the current data.
