Xboox Dvd Drive Error

What does the drive/console do when you actually eject the drive from the dashboard?

To get the dvd key grab JungleFlasher and have a read at the guide. It explains things pretty easily.

The DVD drive is dead, I can not get the DVD key from it. Is there anyway to get it from the motherboard without RGH or JTAG?

Did you swap out the SATA and power cables to the drive? I'm pretty sure if one of those has gone bad, the console will act as though the drive is trying to eject.

This thread http://www.xecuter.c...ead.php?t=67282 has a similar type issue to you, not identical but similar. The MRA hack worked for them.

The JF manual explains the MRA hack. Never done it myself and it looks pretty complicated.

I would check the cables first before trying anything else, you never know you might get lucky.

okay, I will try to swap them out in a second. Thanks Guys!

edit: okay, I switched the cables out. Now it says open when I start up the xbox. I click open and then it says close. But the drive never opens. So I went even further and open the casing on the drive and put a disk in and then closed it and plugged it back in. It still said open when I turned on my xbox and it wouldnt open. When I hit close it says reading... then It goes right back to open.

So the drive isn't reading the disk, or opening. But switching out the cables did change it from saying "opening" constantly to saying "open," "close," and even "reading."  Which is what It would do normally if it was working right except for the fact that the drive is not functioning as the xbox is saying it is.

Can you dump the firmware now? to get the DVD key.

No, It still will not work. And would the pmt hack be better than the other?

What kit do you have to assist in the firmware dump? CK3 and Probe?

I'm not sure which method is best, I'd try the normal probe before considering the MRA as this seems like hellish lot of work.

Did you by any chance plug the dvd drive power cable in the wrong way round/upside down?

All I can think of is to try the MRA hack if you can,

I ain't got any other suggestions unfortunately other than the RGH route.
