Yes .... there is some hope of repair.

But it will take a skilled hand and practice at surface mount soldering.  I've done repair work like this on occasion.

It will take clean up.  Then exposure for new trace contacts.  Small portions green pcb layers will have to be removed.  With fresh trace exposed, you can solder tin the areas and make them contact points.

Those contact points become the A and B for soldering another Capacitor in place.

The first Cap that was ruined was of a particular package size.  Might have to go a size or two higher now to make the gap.  Just have to match the pf of the old Cap

As for the 0 ohm resistor, it could be fried or still intact.  Just have to test it with continuity.

Let me know what you think   .... I could be of further help

OH ... I double checked the photo.  Your damaged spot doesn't need a device, just a bridge.  Same method applies - you just don't need a Cap right there.

install a wire THE EXACT SIZE AND SHAPE of the red line i added to your pic WITH NO MORE THAN 1MM OF WIRE EXPOSED ON THE ENDS and let us know if the drive starts working again.

Should i scrap off the green and solder points along the way?

scrape just enough green away to lay a tiny drop of solder on the traces and "pretin" the end of the wire.  then u just hold the tinned wire on the tinned traces and push it down with the iron and you are done.

hey dude

Just curious.  How is it that you had the exact same repair issue this guy was dealing with?  Seems an uncanny coincidence

Is this a repair after a probe trace cut procedure.?  Something pre-dating the PMT probe ?

I actually have a slightly similar repair case.  Different, but similar.  Doing a repair for someone who destroyed their 0 ohm resistors.

Have done repairs but can't get a JungleFlasher detection.

there are no such things as coincidences.

Your 0 ohm resistor to the right is probably toast

Looks really bad

its hard to tell, but it looks like your solder is just to sloppy, and i'm pretty sure that is more than 1mm of the ends stripped.  get a wire with some insulation and make it look identicle to mine and the drive should turn right on unless u erased it.  did you ever do lo-erase?  don't do it ever unless you have the key.

this is what it looks like now but still no luck: http://i48.tinypic.com/161manr.jpg
it happened right after probing right when i should have got my key if that helps
