Try your luck man!!
Get a heat gun from lowes. and use some no clean flux from ebay. use it on the 2 chips. then put her back together using some new arctic silver and hopefully your in the clear. let me tell you i have had my 360 fresh of the press on release date. she only has given me 3 hiccups 2 times gpu failed and i had to use the heat gun on her twice. the last time i used no clean flux and it never gave me a fail (Knock on wood) 1 year strong! until the laser died on me and had to replaced it.

Note: jester.gif
Both times i bought the heat gun and i returned it back (Cash Only)
??????
Profit

$20 bucks on supplies for repair these 6 years
$10 Eating popcorn and drinking Mountain Dew Taking time in reading & watching tutorials
Enjoying xbox 360 without ms intervening and stealing my money with expensive repairs PRICELESS

hmmm i just don't want to spend the money, do the work, and have it be something else. just a little nervous i guess. what do you think about the oven method? worth doing that to save money or just heat gun it?

HEAT GUN MAN SAFER you only aim heat where it needs to be the GPU and CPU if you put it in the oven you risk in frying the capacitors because your heating the whole unit together. IMHO

Hey !!

Don't do the Heatgun thing.  Aceman is just going to help you kill your 360.

Heatguns can popcorn chips.  What does this mean ?  It causes actual bubbles in the lamination of the chips.  Those Chips are a multi layer system.

Plus the core of chips can be melted.  I know - I've actually done it.

The reason your 360 is doing what its doing is because the guy who sold it to you - probably used a heatgun to reflow it.  Don't repeat the mistakes

Reflows are just band aid work anyway.  It needs to be Reballed - the GPU chip & possibly other chip also

I do Reballing - and so do others visiting this site

can i get a ballpark on that cost? i'm guessing i'd have to ship it to you (or someone else who does it), pay for shipping back, + labor...what i don't want is to pay x amount of dollars to have a frankenstein xbox when if i wasn't quite such a cheapo i could have a brand new, fully human baby.
