Replace Broken Dvd Drive Dg-16d4s

My DVD drive died after the warranty was expired.  I have an Xbox 360 Slim with the DG-16D4S drive in it.  I found several drives on Ebay with the same model number.

I'm planning on pulling the PCB board from my old drive and soldering it to the new one.

How do I know which one is the correct drive?

Drive Details from the sticker on the drive:
Model: Philips & Lite-On DG-16D4S
FW Ver: 0225
HW Ver: A0A0

You don't have to buy an entirely new drive. 9/10 times you can just buy a new laser for the drive and that will fix it. I've worked on a lot of Slims and seen that just the laser needs replacing so try that first.

Make sure you get the right laser. There are two laser types for the slim currently, "G2R" or "G2R2". Most I've seen are G2R2. I believe with the DG-16D4S specifically, it needs a G2R2 laser. (might want to double check as I'm going off memory.)

Replacing the laser is pretty easy if you've tinkered with Xboxes before and have some experience.

Cool, thanks!  I'll give that a shot.  Hopefully that's the issue.

If it's not, how can I ensure that I get the correct drive?  Are there any resources (links, videos, etc) that can help with this?

I've searched around and haven't found a concrete answer.
