Hey...

I would say this is not a Firmware Update issue.  More of a Hardware problem in the DVD drive.

What brand of drive to you have?

The issue could be a dead motor or an optic problem.  The optic can be adjusted as a first attempt.  There are two dials on the body, that dial in power to the laser.  One knob for DVD - games, the other for CD.

However, the laser reader could need to replaced.

If you don't know how to do this, research it first.  Or find someone who can do it.

The Dead motor - can be removed and replaced.

These are a less expensive methods than replacing the whole drive

If you want more help - you can personal message me.  I visit this site probably twice a day.  To learn and to help

The drive sounds like its not doing anything.  I tried to listen but only hear the 360 fan running.  Usually I can hear the drive winding.  So, its probably the motor?

Ya - the motor that spins the disc moves real fast - make alot of noise.

You can buy what are supposed to be new motors on Ebay.  They could be New - they could be refurbished - they have always worked for me.  It's fairly easy to replace the disc motor - just get the right one for the right brand.

Other things it could be:  check the cables from the Mobo to the drive.  Maybe one has a split in it.  There are various voltage lines.  I believe there are 2 that should have 12 volts a piece.  You'll have to check some of the power diagrams that this site has.  There are some other helpful online site for power and pin out

If you are messing with flashing drives maybe you did something and missed the state you put it in.  Like - an accidental change to the Drive key.  Or putting the disc drive in Mode B...  Or maybe you didn't Flash the drive.  You talked about doing it.

You had talked about Unsoldering and soldering wires.  Maybe you got a couple positions switched around

If you are dealing with wires on the Logic board - then you are working with a Lite ON or BenQ

Let me know how I might help
