"Sadly, some unscrupulous resellers still sold the OEM version to other regions......"

What did you expect?
I'm suprised they didn't somehow shoehorn another language on themselves before selling them on.

As they say, no honour amongst thieves.

Kinda off topic but I have 1.06 and was wondering if I have to upgrade to 1.11 or above to play xgd3 games?  I'm assuming as long as I insert the topology data I would be ok.  I'm only asking becuase when I initially tried to update to 1.11 from 1.04 I got the E64 error and had to take apart my console.

If you are on the latest dashboard, you will need 1.11 to play XGD3 games.  The latest dash has the silent dae.bin update.

If you re-imaged your SD card to have the ext3 partition with very small fat 32 partition setup that was recommended to change to after 1.06 you should find updates much more stable.
My SD card got corrupted upgrading to 1.06, so I used that opportunity to change to the new setup and haven't had an issue since then.
