thanks for the quick reply. as far as I know it shouldn't be spoofed. I received the 360 as a gift and was told the drive have been replaced. it's an elite (2007-03). I have since flashed it to a newer FW (Samsung LT+2.1), but I'm still getting the red light on the 4th.

Well, your first post did mention it being spoofed. If it isn't being spoofed (i.e the drive you are using now is the same model as the original), you are fine.

A red light in the 4th quadrant may indicate a HDD error too.

Any game pre XBG3 works fine. I've mention the spoof because the new dash doesn't support spoofing for the XBG3. And the red light on the 4th will appear due to spoofing of the drive to a Samsung.

Yeah, that pretty much confirms it.

I'm going to assume it IS spoofed. The reason the XGD3 games are not working is because the console's original drive supported XGD3 and the console expects a challenge back from the drive it was originally supplied with. Since Sammy drives do not support AP 2.5, it is not responding to the challenge and the console is falling over.

Basically, unless you can find out the original drive you are going to need to RGH it or possible get something like the xKey.
