Multiple Xbox's With Rrod (different Issues For All Of Them)
« on: November 26, 2011, 04:13:00 PM »

I have 2 xbox's that used to work and i need help fixing them

First xbox

- used to have 3rrod and got fixed with the penny/towel trick (both)
- my cousin broke the ethernet port so i tried replacing it by directly soldering the ethernet cable onto the motherboard
- i think that i must have done this incorrectly because i turned the xbox on and got the 3rrod again
- is it possible that i fryed the ics chip? i have anothser one and can replace it
- or did i fry the board? i dont think i did because when i turn the xbox on i can hear the xbox drive start spinning the disk.
- is there any other possible component that i could have possible fried that i can replace
- i have another motherboard that has the parts if any parts need to be replaced
- before i did any of this foolishness the xbox was working fine and played bootleg games fine
- also a long time ago i had removed the ethernet port and the xbox kept working without it \
- just now when i soldered the ethernet cable directly is when i got the 3 rrod

Second xbox
- i got it from a computer job i did for this guy
- the xbox turned on but when i came to playing games it just froze or sometimes even just turning it on it froze I THINK  it had been worked on before because it has a sticker that says "RECONDITIONED void if sticker removed"
- i thought i was the gpu most likely
- i opened it up and removed the xbox clamps and put screws instead
- it had a shit ton of thermal paste on both the gpu and cpu
- cleaned it off and apply a reasonable amount
- put i back together and got 1rrod e74
- i read forums and i could reallly figure out the issue because i simply just replace the xbox clamps nothing too big
- i put the xclamps back on and then again 1 rrod but now it was  e73
- so then i was again put the screws back on and now the xbox is currently on 3rrod no message
-WTF please help!!
- i have tried putting the fan on top the cpu and let the gpu heat for about 30-45 minutes like llama website said
- all those things still dont work.. it is so wierd how im getting all of these different errors out of just replaceing the xclamps !

-PLEASE HELP I HAVE BAUGHT AND ACTIVATED MY 3MONTH GOLD SUBSCRIPTION AND NEED TO GET ONE OF THEM WORKING AGAIN PLEASE HELP!

What is the secondary error codes on both consoles??

It says it in the post

1st - 3rrod  -> fixed -> someone tried to resolder a broken ethernet port -> broke again 3rrod (NOT OVERHEATING) ALSO 3RROD DOESNT GIVE YOU ERROR CODES

2nd - working but froze on when games started -> x clamps removed  and replaced with screws ->                 1rrod e74 (ERROR CODE) -> x clamps REinstalled -> 1rrod e73 (ERROR CODE) -> screws REinstalled ->                             3rrod (NOT BOOT OR ERROR CODE!)

3RL DOES give you a secondary error code! While the console is flashing 3RL, hold the sync button, and while holding it press eject, the lights will flash, 1 light = 1, 2 lights = 2, 3 lights = 3 and 4 lights = 0, then keep holding sync and press eject again and it will give you another set of lights, repeat 2 more times, then it returns to 3RL.

So if you get the sequence 4, 1, 4, 2 that is secondary error code 0102 which is usually a GPU fault (cold solder joints, etc).

So again... what are the error codes??

as stated in op box1 played "bootleg" games you can forget live on that one!
besides if ethernet chip is toast as far as i know you cant just swap it for another!
2nd box does it have a hard drive? if so take it off hold down the sync button on the console with one hand and press it on with the other hand holding the sync button till it boots if none of that works try and get secondary error codes i know its not what you want to hear but your probably wasting your time
i say that because keeping these old 360's running is a labour of love at the best of times
i mean some of them are nearly 7 years old and have allsorts of design flaws

That does not fix it, if anything it makes the problem worse

First of all we need Secondary error codes, to give you further advices. Secondly, the ethernet is swapable from another board. The MAC address is stored on NAND, so the Ethernet IC is interchangable.

@MADMAX88 thanks for putting me right on the ethernet chip wasn't sure but i just remember reading that it wasn't as straight forward as swaping chips probably on here lol.
but if that one plays backup's isnt that a mine field where live is concerned?
i have'nt had any "back up's" since p.s one days now i only play online games its not worth the risk.

According to XS Filter - 062508 - filtered.s here... http://xbox-experts....rcode/E20/0110/

It says 0110 is a RAM related issue, either one of the RAM bricks has a cold solder joint or the connection to the RAM block at the GPU end has failed (cold or cracked solder joint).

So a reball or reflow of the GPU and/or RAM should fix it.

I agree with Herman. Most likely is your RAM chips (usually the ones that are hidden under the GPU heatsink, next to the GPU), or the GPU itself. You must reflow these one by one and see if it will work. I mean reflow one RAM chip, turn on the xbox, if it doesnt work, do the other and so on.

As above, 0110 is a RAM issue, 0022 is the GPU or HANA. TBH, there is a high chance both are fixable with a proper reflow or a reball of the GPU. Quite likely it's the connections at the GPU end which are causing the RAM/HANA codes to show up.
