I wonder how Matrix have manged to use Any sata programing tool when TX only recommends X360USB, i couldnt do it with my via6421 i had to use the X360USB pro.

VIA VT6421 sata cards do indeed work with TX replacement boards.
You can either use the ide cable option on the VIA VT6421 adapter with an IDE to SATA adapter
or
1st plug the dvd drive board into a usb to sata adapter, power up and then remove usb to sata adapter and just use a sata cable to VIA VT 6421 adapter.
Sounds confusing but its actually really simple.
If you search for how to use a VIA VT6421 to flash an 0225 drive you should find a link to a tutorial explaining how this is done in more detail.

Yup sir, your are right, remember that you need to solder just the 4 cables (very easy) biggrin.gif

5 cables,  not 4.

I'd like to throw in here that since we can boot into homebrew dashboards I don't see why it couldn't be possible to create a homebrew program to flash DVD drives to iXtreme X.X right from a glitched console. Considering we can get the correct key in Xell why cant we just boot to a Flash360 like program and mod our DVD drives directly from a image compiled on our PC's.....just sayin ;-)

Doesn't matter, MS doesn't even flash the slim liteons, only one they could do was the 9504.  They are LOCKED and I think MS can't even write to them over a system update.

Hi There,
Didnt work for me tried it with syba ide to sata convertor and a usb one and yes i have researched it, plus hot swapping is not a good idea anyway. Suggest any newbees stay clear of this method and stick to the X360USB.

I agree 100%
wait a minute, what about the 360Lizard?

But the 360 Lizard has NEVER worked - they simply didn't add support for it.

This PCB currently works so your analogy is irrelevant (as are most of your posts which are anti-xecuter, anti-c4e, anti-jungle) yet Mr Boxxstar you are the one who actually makes a living from using their work - its really pathetic to be fair - however i always listen to my Grandma when she tells me not to feed the trolls wink.gif

It will be interesting to see this. From what I can see the design is quite different whereas the TX PCB is as close to the original as possible right down to the correct drive controller (this is the reason for the higher prices - the drive controller IC and the MXIC chips alone cost over $30 now).

I would imagine TX will just drop their price a little. Ive already seen some places drop to $69.95 and there are eBay stores that sell the TX PCB's for only $59.95 for a few weeks now. At the end of the day its superbly manufactured product and it works - the price of 1 game so no on can really argue.

But if it comes down another $10 - everyone wins smile.gif

The price is most important thing as the PCB that tx produce is too expensive.

A drive with CFW is not really needed on a 360 with a hacked dash, you just have to create the backup a different way. Its actually better to do them this way since on some games you can just use a single layer dvd.

I've just installed one to replace a dead kamikaze 0225 board. Flashed with JungleFlasher and an X360USB. Board idents as a 9504 'out of the box'.

SPI write lock applied with JF, unlocked and relocked with Matrix Freedom Manager app (took a few minutes to detect the drive board).

Working fine with an XGD3 backup and retail game.

Just be aware if you're doing a soldered install that the factory fitted wire colours don't correspond at all to the original LiteOn wires!

I just installed one yesterday on a Slim (July MFR) had a 0401 drive and was locked, extracted the key and changed the PCB, they have fixed the color issue, now they correspond fine.

I just flashed it with C4eva's stock-0401.bin but when LT3.0 for slims arrive it'll be a simple plug in of the USB from my laptop to do the flashing (it auto unlocks and locks), a flash takes a little longer than in JF, but you don't open anything up.

I hated opening the Slim, it was my first Slim mod but I don't want to ever do it again, now I won't have to (as long as it runs smoothly).

Just know this, their double sided tape is rubbish, doesn't keep anything in place as it should, I substituted their double sided tape with blue-tac, FTW!
