Well, if you're sure u fried it, then you can use the gligli hack to jtag the box and recover the dvd key that way, assuming it's not a Xenon board.  Convince your friend to get his box Jtagged and fork out the money for the glitch mod chip + new drive....and Don't Mess It Up this time around  laugh.gif

The glitch hack isn't a jtag   dry.gif also there are ways of recovering the drive key without jtag/glitch hack you just need the right tools.
