Team Wasabi sent us an email explaining their ODD Emulator device will also work with AP25 and XGD3:
Quote

Hello!

This video demonstrates the advanced features supported by Wasabi 360 Ultra such as support for AP25 protected games and the new XGD3 format. AP25 support is implemented without relying on patching ISOs - all you need to do is copy the AP25 data file corresponding to your Xbox dashboard version to the HDD, its that simple. We also further showcase the innovative and exclusive on-screen menu system provided by Wasabi 360 Ultra.

NOTE: Final Wasabi 360S Ultra (for Xbox Slim) hardware was used to create this video; the Wasabi housing can be seen on the left hand side of the Xbox Slim.

Does a firmware flash (ie iXtreme 2.0) need to be installed on your xbox 360 for this hardware to work, specifically XGD3?

Nope but you will need your drive key. From what I understand.

I think that is just to demonstrate there is no disk in the drive.

Wasabi will be better... if it comes with USB and ESATA ports!

if you have a ESATA HDD... wasabi works awesome! but if you have a USB External HDD... good, wasabi works too!

Microsoft can combat this by looking at the latency it takes to load up a game and a HDD is way faster than a dvd drive, i think they will compare the time it takes to load a game between an xk3y or wasabi and then goes the ban... Or they can modify Stock FW to report a specific latency on the xbox and the wasabi or xk3y will not have the correct timings... But its just a theory.

Great...By watching a video, this thing seems pretty user-friendly. However, we still have to open the xbox console to connect the device or put the chip in. If there is a way to get around this, it would be great.

BTW, the price is a bit high and kind of expensive...Hope there would be a price drop as well.

No way around because you have to plug it in the DVD drives sata cable to intercept and deliver the data. Not avoidable I'm afraid.

But opening the Xbox up is pretty easy.

Also you will need your DVD drive key, so you have to open her up for that.
