Don't fit a gen 2 heatsink, they are crap and you will get higher CPU temps. Clean the GPU and apply new paste then see how it goes

As long as your GPU and EDRAM are in the 40's, your xbox is f###in' golden!
Xenon CPU's run fine at 75-80C, fans should ramp up at 80C and not go over.

Recently i played skyrim for a good 6 hours and i went to xexmenu and they were

CPU:60.1
GPU:41.4


my edram seems to be like 10* hotter than the gpu?

It could be a discrepancy between the two sensors but 10 degrees difference is concerning.
If you want your Xenon to last as long as possible then add a second gen aluminum heatsink on the GPU. Every time I've tested a GPU with one of those the EDRAM was around 3 Deg cooler than the GPU. Regardless, it should have both running in the 30's and if there's no previous BGA damage then the Xenon should last a lifetime.
