On June 16th X360key announced

Quote
We have posted a new video showing the actual xKey hardware running Halo Reach with the new AP25 data on a X360 Slim with the Spring Update installed.
We are in the final development stage, and after due testing the product is set for an early July release.

I am wondering where it is. I have not seen any news on a delay and early July is over.
Has anyone heard of anything?

Would you rather it be released now, then bug-fixed later?  This is xKey, not Microsoft xKey!

Yes we know that but why should this instill confidence?

Until they finish the ability for the x360key to "Backup original Xbox 360 games to USB hard drive" I won't consider buying one.

had one pre-ordered for a month or so now, definitely looking forward to receiving it and giving it a go.  not sure why backup discs couldn't be implemented, but that may require a separate app to be written and work with the xkey and the 360 os.

still looking forward to receiving mine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Ive read that you have to have stock firmware for it to work, it doesnt make any since to me. Can anyone confirm?

I'm more curious what the actual odds of Live compatibility will be. Until its Live safe I won't be considering it.

No such animal. There is "it worked with XBL the last time we tested" but that's a different thing. You will never know when M$ find something new to check for and then it's game over.

Plenty of people have found this out the hard way with previous CFWs. If the Xkey guy is right about the timing of the FW checks on 9504s then a lot of Slim owners may be learning the same lesson (the same way) at any time now

I have no clue if M$ will start banning again [and neither do you], if they do then CFW users are just as vulnerable - who knows what other screwups are in there waiting to be detected. If they don't then you can party on

Fair play though, Xkey have never promoted it as "Live Safe" at launch. Knowing what we do now, does anyone think CFW for slims will be "Live Safe" ever? I certainly don't & I won't be taking anyone else's word on it in future either

Because they're following the rule of "make sure it works" first, "meet the release date" second. Much better than "meet the release date" first, "worry about the 82% failure rate coming off the production line later" second.

Better to wait and receive a working x360key than have some POS rushed out that ends up having to be returned for repair.

I think the estimated release date should be around the end of July, and x360key team might just want to test the x360key thoroughly before release......
