They say that all DG-16D4S from china are fake i dont believe this. They just want make profits on this. I understand but $75 for a mainboard only its too. I can find brand new original 9504 for $31.  And i dont think that the write protection is a problem because if the xbox 360 have a 0225 or 0401 from factory the console will not send a flash command to the drive because for m$ this drive is write locked.

im sure we'll see cloned pcb's three times cheaper that these sold by xecuter.they're asking a high price because they know cheaper alternatives will come in the not so distant future.
remember the 130$ psbreak usb dongle from ozmodchips last year?in 2 weeks we were getting 40$ clones that worked just as well.

ill say this again.if the chinese can sell fake drives for 60$,that means they'll also sell modified PCB's for a lot less (just take out the cost of the laser,worm drive,motor,metal case,cables).my guess is 20 or 30$.at this price even the 20$ IC is not worth it.

im gonna wait it out,see if any cheaper alternatives pop up,or maybe team maximus has something up their sleeve.

im just glad that those leechers from all over CL on those slim will be no profit who in the world would like to wait for parts and at the end came out wiht labor around 60-100 bucks, if modded DYI thanks gods phat will be someday discontinued lol who knows

I don't know why everyone is complaining about paying for a new PCB, on the first Xbox we all paid for Mod-chips and you couldn't even play online with them, just think of it like that.

The issue is that modchips provided SO much more than just backups. It wasn't about going online with backups, it was about the ability to enable homebrew and unlock the functionality of the hardware. What 'urks' me about the PCB is that is more expensive than buying a used drive (which comes with more than just the PCB), and it "only" gets you one step closer to modding the firmware on the DVD drive. All the other actions are still required. In other words, it doesn't provide any added functionality that getting another DVD drive would.

While I agree there will be cheaper clones, don't count on it coming from Maximus any time soon. He has some serious medical problems right now.

it's a real bugger trying to reply to this thread...  trying hard to decide whether to address the irony or the hypocrisy of most of these posts is just too damn much.

it's no surprise that "developments" in this scene take so long and are so few and far between when all there ever is are people bitching. whether about the speed of
new releases of exploits, technology or methods... or accusations of "greed" for people coming up with ways of allowing you ALL to do what you want to do and then
expecting to make some money from their efforts.

i know i'm an idiot, but what part of "if you don't like playing the "game" with M$ then JUST BUY THE GODDAMN GAMES don't you get?  if you want to be "safe", then play
originals.  if you must play "backups" (or more likely ripped games), then you gotta pay someone to give you that ability.  how difficult is that to understand?

this "solution" will either cost you a little more than the price of ONE GAME or about half the cost- if you have skillz.  if you have no skillz, then yeah... you gotta pay more.

expecting a "free solution" to something that is obviously not an easy thing to immediately overcome (write protected chips) is just asinine. bitching about the price of breaking
the EULA for xbox and live, the DMCA and whatever else- when that is obviously what 90% of you are interested in- shows everyone's true color.  and it aint good.

Lets not forget how X360 scene actually started. It had nothing to do with C4Eva or JF or TX. Yes, C4eva was the one that actually finished and released the firmware, but did he bother to release the source? It was his decision to keep the work private and make money from this. Can't say I blame him of course. But the progress would have been much better if it was open source, just look at PS3 scene.

The problem I have is that this is actually not a solution, it could have been done half a year ago, and we were mislead by C4eva cryptic posts. Obviously iXtreme FW and JF is being held back so TX can manufacture those boards. They are overpriced and I imagine it won't be long till we get cheaper copies.
