I am also confused how the key reading is done on every drive without need of a probe or is all the info just not released yet?  Any clarification is appreciated.....

That information is not released so far and probably won't be released until the launch date as we all know its a cat and mouse game smile.gif

you will need your key.  there will be a way to use this to get it, but you will also need a probe or pmt devise.

New Dash ruins all Known Key Extraction Methods, yes or no?

Im sure x360Key and Max will continue partnership and share info, but I was under the impression that the new DVD FW Flashed w/ Beta Dash: Key Extraction had been broken.

Like MCC said above, it's just a Cat&Mouse Game, time will tell.

It is my understanding that we can still dump the FW but jungle flasher needs an update to read the key from the new FW.

Looks like this is the real deal.. This is going to be a huge success because most ppl will buy this for offline games (back-up games to store on a usb drive) and online games can use original disc.  No more flash the drive which will saves us big $$ and hassle.

Except that most people don't have 2 xbox 360s. Because if they can detect the x360key they can do that offline and online, you get flagged and banned either way.

How do you know they can detect it online and offline? In passthrough mode the x360key seems to be essentially disabled and the consoles functions as an original unmodified console. I assumed it would work similar to the Xecuter CK3 blaster type of device, allowing passthrough when not being used to flash it.

Sure as long as you are in Pass-trough Mode they won't be able to detect it. But to be able to use the x360key you will need to put it into the "normal" mode (otherwise you wouldn't install a x360 key in the first place) and at that time you can be potentially detected. And it won't mater if you are offline or online at that time because the detection will likely be done by the dash itself.

Well i can't say that i know this, because i can't predict the future and I'm not working for the MS 360 team either. :-) But from what we've seen so far from microsoft we can certainly assume that if they will be able to detect the x360key they can detect it both online and offline.

you can say that you know that.  it is stupid to think that your dash can't detect what you do because you are offline.  google xval for more info.

If they can detect it offline (dunno for sure, been away),  it would be via some check that wasn't accounted for or put in that there is no defense for. You get flagged and once you go online, ban.

Excuse me if you already know this for I don't mean to insult you, seems that was your question though.

It wouldn't bother me if they can detect me offline since it will never go online.  It is mainly for back-ops games for the kids and I to play.  The promise of using my own usb drive then ms will save me tons of hassle.  The online is used only the original disc.

flags are stored on the nand (chip soldered to the mobo).  if u want to keep your console clean, u have to follow the rules.  there is no swapping back and forth between being clean and dirty on the same console, it just isn't possible.  if you only play online once a year but absolutely have to be online that day, u have an online console and must treat it as such.

From what they are saying in the other forums they are going with the idea that you have to hook your stock drive up to this xkey360 and it will emulate the 360 and ask for game data or responses (whatever it needs) which will then somehow save all that encrypted game information coming from the stock drive (which is why it MIGHT not need your key) onto an external usb hard drive.  I'm still wondering how it will work to emulate 360 commands and what format it will save all of this in and how your going to get a usb port out of your case and fit this device in and make it look good while being easy for all those idiots out there who still haven't figure out how to open their case without using a screw driver?  On another sidenote  I'm sure its going to piss people off when they actually NEED the original disc though.

unless they invent some magical thing that feeds the drive laser data, that isn't happening.  there is a reason there is official news stating they are licensing key dumping technology.

It looks like ATA is going to be fed into a ATA host controller chip so that means its probably taking the game data from the USB drive as if it's a internal harddrive, then spoofing the data to look like its from a regular "harddrive installed game". Then it probably has a passthru to the box that takes that as input and processes it using the linux os and emulates it as if it were coming from the other input, ie SATA from the drive, then finally outputting to the 'output' end which plugs into the SATA of the motherboard. Im assuming there will need to be a disc in the drive. Because the way it works right now with harddrive installed games.
