xkey360 Update: Maximus 360 Lizard partnership announced

From x360key.com:

We are very pleased to announce that x360key has licensed the key extraction technology used in Maximus Lizard. This means that x360key will be able to extract the unique key from all Xbox 360 drives; Samsung, Hitachi, Benq, Liteon, and Slim Liteon - including the latest 0225 model.

Xbox 360 DVD Drive firmware flashing is *NOT* required to use x360key. However, this is a feature that may be added in a future x360key firmware update.

Because any of these new methods to play backups will still require the drive key from the DVD drive for them to work.

Apparantly there is a new method being worked on that will not require the key, you make your own backup with the drive which will give you an encrypted iso using the drive key, this is use while the console asks for reading, this data matches what will be required so when decrypted it will play

May be a rumor/not possible but that's what I read on the x360key thread

drive flashing not required, but considering you already have to dump the drive including probing liteon's, you might as well.  my question is will these devises work while leaving the drive in place?

What? I don't even...

1) With no key how do you manipulate the drive to make a 1:1 dump even if it's encrypted?
2) A lot of things are sent through the encrypted connection (commands, requests, etc.) how do you filter them from the game data?
3) Even if you some how isolated the encrypted data how do you know what part of the data the drive is requesting at a given moment?

In other words: You have a book in Chinese and a Chinese person ask you, in his native language, where a specific information on a book is located, would you know where to find it?

This just confirms my speculation earlier that c4eva is desperately trying to stop people from pre-ordering the x360key! Hence the abrupt announcement of the XODE lol

I already placed an order for one...I might pre-order more since all this seem legit...

According to the information here: http://www.teensy.co...oduct_info.html

The x360Key can operate in 2 modes, emulation and pass through, in pass through mode the x360Key is disabled and the console and original DVD drive operate as normal.

Ok for the novice guy what is going on?

Will this key thing make it possible to flash any xbox 360, is it simple as pluging into the USB and connecting a hard drive and playing your games?

Could it really be that simple as it is on the PS3 at the moment? If so I gotta get me one of these!

Looks like this is the real deal.. This is going to be a huge success because most ppl will buy this for offline games (back-up games to store on a usb drive) and online games can use original disc.  No more flash the drive which will saves us big $$ and hassle.

As I say I'm not sure if that was a true feature, theoretically it can be done as send the drive commands as if it were a 360 asking the same commands such as read and store the response, do the same with other commands

As for point 3 I have no idea, so its quite possible this was just a rumor

Congrats Maximus... you might not be the market leader with your products (ie. xecuter outselling 10 to 1) but you sure do put a lot of time and effort in and should be rewarded.  I'm glad this team will line your pockets with some much deserved coinage.

C4s comments do seem a little childish I must say.

Well, maby they found a way to reach the dvd-drive through the sata connection for the harddrive...
No more opening up console flashes, at least for those drives that doesn't need any extra hardware like Probe, Vampire etc...

sorry if i am dense but i am still confused and in the middle of deciding whether I want to just use this product on a jasper 360 which has a lite on 7458c drive that will not read discs anymore...So If I understand correctly there is a "mode" where I can play backups off usb that does not require keys/disc reading? Then there is a mode that does require a key that would supposedly be "live" safe?

I am also confused how the key reading is done on every drive without need of a probe or is all the info just not released yet?  Any clarification is appreciated.....
