Adding As5 And Washers On Ram Under Gpu Heatsink?

Will adding AS5 and a washer on the ramchips under the gpu heatsink help cool them? How big ig the gap from the chips and heatsink? Howbout 2 washers? or a penny or somenthing? thanks
