No Xbox Live support yet so probably highly detectable as of now.

Yeah I wasn't asking if you could get banned I was just making a joke about the noobz...lol... I don't flash my drives any more I don't care to go on xbox live with a flashed console and I also got tired of burning disc. I just play from HDD using my Jtag. But back on topic I think this device is very interesting and will be watching. My friends are always asking me to flash their 360 I don't do it because I don't want phone calls about how do I do this and how do I do that.  Maybe I can just tell them to buy this.

Only concern I have is the bandwidth provided between the media stored on your HDD and the X360key

i.e. USB2.0 on a good day hits ~30MB/s but I have no doubt that the DVD drive reads much fast than that.

unless the x360 key has a flash buffer onboard to load the image onto

I guess you can install the game to HDD

what does every one else think?

I can't imagine that Microsoft won't factor this news into their next dashboard release.  Now if timings were actually tested for sector jumps..

Because too many people believe that this does make jtags and drive flashes obsolete I tried to make a comparison between the x360key, ixtreme lt+ and jtag hack:

Very nice, thank you.

See above, if it can be upgraded it can remain equal to a flashed DVD drive. Since it's good practice for flashed drive users to hold back on dash updates anyways, assuming the company behind the device is timely with their updates I wouldn't anticipate this being a problem. It could also possibly emulate older drives which the dash does not flash.

it can emulate an older drive, but as long as it doesn't change the osig in the console's nand, the 360 will try to flash it.
also, samsung drives do get flashed by the new beta dash.im not sure about hitachi's.

Interesting...
Assuming it still needs the drive key or is that irrelevant?
What about Probe/MRA drives?

The 12X drive is only 17MB/s. Old drives and dirty discs are probably slower than that so M$ can't just ban for slow read.

it sounds like it connects as a passthrough between the 360 and the original disc drive, so I'm guessing it is either hijacking the key over the SATA communication or just letting the drive perform the keycheck itself and hijacking other data read requests

This sounds great, im suprised they didnt come up with something like this years ago, ive gone from owning 5 xboxs down to owning 1 jtag, and i hardly play that (in the last 6 months ive played 20mins i guess). The fact is they need a new gen console now, all current consoles are far too long in the tooth, and ive gone back to PC Gaming as the games look better, run better, handle better with a kb/mouse, and the games are alot cheaper (digital downloads). I can get games for $20 on the pc, where console equivilent are still $60+

If the device works are stated, i might be swayed to pick up a slim just to mess about on live again with some friends, but i doubt its going to last long, either through the company going down and not supporting it, or ms just able to block it permanantly

Yes, but if it is programmed to cover that, it could just reply with the "success" commands that the actual drive would send.  IF they didn't want to program that, could just plug the old drive back in, let it flash, then plug the emulator back in.  Although, the description implied you could insert the device between the mobo and the drive, so there would likely be a bypass switch of some sort to use the stock drive.

You probably have to dump the key first since the traffic is encrypted with the same key.
